Cardmaker Candy and Update (and a little "I Spy" if you have the time)

Today I am giving away a copy of CardMaker May 2010, jam packed with beautiful projects and inspiration, I was blessed to have several chosen for this issue! Two things about this issue I am particularly excited about: first, this card I made with one of Theresa Momber's first sets "Happy Camper", this is the first card I have had published with her illustrations, and I hope there will be many, many more! :) (who knew about 10 months later when this magazine actually appeared on the newsstand she'd release a fishing set? LOL! It's such a "guy" crad, but I have to send her the original now that I have it back!)
Next, "Inspiration Mosaic" is recognized as one of their favorite products in their product review section, hip hip hurray!
If you are new to my blog, although I haven''t made a sample with it in about a month, it is one of my favorite and most versatile sets, you can find tons of samples with it in my side bar under the Labels section or in the Idea Center on STV. I'm praying this will bring a whole new audience of stampers to this set and to Gina K Designs, thank you CardMaker! They will also be sharing three projects I created with the set in their July issue, coming soon...

How to win: Leave a comment below telling me what is your favorite stamping/crafting publication (or blog if you don't subscribe to or look at printed pubs) and WHY. Followers of my blog get an extra chance. I will post a winner Wednesday!

Now, just for funsies, if you already have this issue, see if you can spy (because I love "I Spy!") how many tiems my cards show up in the magazine (a few are tricky...) Email me with your number, I want to see if you come up with the same I do! :D

UPDATE: My thumb, hand/arm (yes, now I would call the problem my arm) is not doing very well. I went to the doctor Friday and am going again today. I would so appreciate your continued prayers for healing.

(I appreciate your patience if you are awaiting a candy from the past couple weeks, I have a load of stuff to take to the post office this week!! It's coming!)

  1. I used to get every stamping magazine that I could get my hands on, but I soon ran out of space! I made the tough decision to only continue my PaperCrafts subscription and to rely on the many, many blogs I follow to provide the bulk of my inspiration. I do miss those magazines, though...

  2. Congrats, Mel! Getting published is terrific, but having your set spotlighted as a favorite has to feel so rewarding.
I love Papercrafts for stamping/cardmaking and Scrapbooks Etc for scrapbooking. I am in love with the new Papercrafts "Go To Sketches" out now for card ideas.
Thanks for the chance to win the magazine. I would love an autograph if I win! :)

  3. Huge congratulations, Melanie! How fantastic to have your cards and stamp set featured so prominently this month! I don't subscribe to any printed magazines right now, but I always check out the Moxie Fab World blog for great inspiration and highlights of new products.
Sorry that your arm is not doing better. I hope that the Dr. can find a way to get on the healing path. Continued prayers that you will be pain-free and back to stamping soon.

  4. I used to get several crafting magazines at different time periods in my life and often I'd buy mags at the store when I found something that I really liked. But it dawned on me as they collected dust that I did look at them all but rarely made something from them. I do subscribe to tons of blogs and see many things I'd love to try from them too but don't always get the chance before the next idea takes over. So at the moment I've decided that there are so many things floating around the net for free that I could work for years and never try them all. So I'm saving my money for supplies instead of buying the magazines. Stamp TV has to be one of my favorite spots to check for new ideas! And of course all the designers' blogs associated with Stamp TV. Hope your arm/hand/thumb is better soon. You continue in my thoughts and prayers!

  5. Congrats on being published!

I don't have any favorite crafting magazines. I have so many favorite blogs that I get inspiration from, that I couldn't even list them. Other favorite sources are SCS, StampTV, & PCP.

Thinking and sending well wishes for you.

  6. Congrats Melanie!!!!
If I buy magazines it is Cardmaker, love it!
I am sorry that your pain has traveled up the arm. I hope it is better soon and will keep you in my prayers.
I also wanted to pass along that when I was having similar problems last summer/fall it ended up that I had pinched nerves in my neck that was causing the pain in my arm and hand. The Chiroprator helped me more than my regular Doctor.

  8. Yea Melanie! Congrats girl. I don't subscribe to any publications as I rely on my subscriptions to the blogs I read each and every day. Now, don't roll your eyes, because this is true ------ yours is my favorite one, because I love how you publish a tip sheet to go with your sets which, to me, is priceless and makes your sets unbelievably versatile.

  42. Congrats on being published!!!!

Right now I think that "Cardmaker" is my favorite. I have been stamping 20 years and have seen many magazines come and go. It seems these days that too much scrapbooking is being incorporated into stamping magazines that I used to follow for their cards.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I used to read magazines until I discovered the card-making communities on line, and now it's a toss-up between Splitcoast and Stamp TV as they both have awesome technique resources!

  57. CardMaker was/is my fav, but I had to make some budget cuts and well...it was cut. I really miss it. It's a great resource for the latest and greatest in this industry, but I get to see ideas on blogs, so all is not lost.

  58. Congrats on the publication Mel! CardMaker is one of my two go-to crafting pubs; PaperCrafts is the other. I'd love to get both, but I usually end up alternating. I love the mix of techniques and difficulty that they both provide, and I love seeing creative peeps like you, whom I follow, featured in the issues.
