  1. Melanie, I love the new set you designed with OWH and our servicemen and women in mind. I am sure that it will bring many smiles, some tears and lots of love to the servicemen/women and their families.
Thank you for a chance to win a set.

  2. absolutely LOVE this new set! i have several nephews in the armed forces, and know that we can't do enough for these men and women that are fighting for our freedom, and the freedom of others. this set makes it EASY to honor them! tfs!

  3. I love to make cards for OWH because it is a small way that I can honor and say thanks to the servicemen and women for their protecting our country. Your stamp set is perfect for making cards for them. Love it and what you do.

  4. I absolutely love this set, Mel. And the cards the GKD DT created with it are spectacular. I envision hundreds (if not thousands) of cards being made for our service men and women with this set. In my own family, I have one niece and 2 nephews serving. (Iraq and Afghanistan)

God bless all service men and women. I pray they all come home safely.

  5. Hi Melanie! All your sets make wonderful cards for Operation Write Home. Part of my new year's resolution is to step up more for cards for this organization. I had two brothers who served in the Vietnam war and I remember how any piece of mail meant so much to them. It's the least I can do to help these brave men and women and thank them for their service. Thanks for the chance to win your wonderful set!

  6. I like to make cards for OWH as a thank you to our service members deployed overseas. It's my small way of helping them keep in touch with friends and family.

Thanks for the chance to win your great new set of stamps!

  7. I make cards for heroes simply for the reason that they deserve it. Our church card ministry makes cards to send to the military that we know thanking them for their service and we have also in the past participated with the USO in sending cards to the military for them to send back home. I am going to check out the OWH site.

  8. Melanie, your new set is so lovely and will make such beautiful cards for not only our armed forces heroes but the everyday heroes who volunteer their time for so any causes in our communities. I make cards to thank "heroes" because so often they don't receive the thanks and recognition they deserve, especially the people who quietly give of their time and talents. My new Year's resolution was to use my card making talents to provide cards for OWH but also for people who serve more local causes like our church's food and clothing pantry volunteers. Thanks for creating a set that can be used to recognize an thank all of the people who give of themselves.

  9. I love to make cards-period! I really love to make cards for our soldiers because it makes me feel like I am a small part of bridging the gap between them and their loved ones. I know I would really be thrilled to receive a handmade card from my soldier, if I had one.
Thanks for connecting us so we can be a small part of their lives.

  11. Thanks for sharing these great stamps!

I love to make cards and I think that when you have a talent, you should share it. I make many more cards than I use personally, so I'm glad to support OWH and help deployed service members keep in touch with loved ones at home.

  15. Melanie,
This new set is wonderful. I like the way it can be used not only for the service men and women, but also for the families. I have friends whose sons and grandsons are in Afghanistan and Irag.It will be nice to be able to make cards for all of them. Thank you so much for all you do.

  16. I love that set and if I don't win one, guess I'll be pulling out my credit card! My daughter is presently in Iraq and I send her cards and packages each week. I am so proud of her and all the young men and women who are serving our great country.

  17. I have made cards in the past because I know how nice it is to receive some beautiful happy mail and our service members deserve to have something nice to send home. I am just starting to get back to making more for OWH.

  18. What an awesome set to use to make cards for our military heroes.I have nieces and nephews serving and I know they love getting mail from home so it is nice to send some cards out to other soldiers as well. It might be the bright spot in their life for the day to get a card in the mail.

  19. I love your new set and immediately thought of OWH when I saw it. I have been contributing to OWH for over a year. It feels so good to be able to share with so many heroes.

  20. Melanie, I love this set! I have been making cards for OWH for almost a year and this set will be a perfect addition. One of my resolutions this year was to make more cards to send to OWH. My sons best friend was killed in Iraq 5 years ago and this is my way of honoring him and letting our soldiers know that I appreciate all they are fighting for. Thanks for the chance to win.

  21. I love sending my cards to Operation Write Home because my husband served in the Army and I know how important contact with family is and these cards make it so easy for them.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I've visited that Operation Write Home webpage and thought I need to do that...now I need to really do it! This set will certainly be great to use. Thanks Melanie for all you do and share with us!

  23. This set is so full of great possibilities! One of my best friend's DH is in the National Guard and just came back from a long deployment overseas. He missed the long awaited birth of their second child while he was serving and my best friend was a single mom to a newborn and her 8 year old during that time as well. Both heroes in my book! :) Love you Bill & Joyce! You make our world a better and safer place to be! Thanks for the opportunity to share! And win! :)

  24. I love this new stamp set, it is both beautiful and versatile. Lovely work. I make cards for heroes because my father and brother both served and my brother was also deployed shortly after 9/11. If a beautiful card can carry love overseas then I do my little part.

  25. I love your new set. What a wonderful thing to be teamed up with OWH. I just sent another box of 95 cards to them. Making cards for our service men and women is one thing I can do to show my support of our troops. It is a great idea - to send cards they can use to send back home. It is also such a great feeling when I send cards to the heros for them to keep with a note of gratitude to them inside the card. God bless our troops.

  26. I love this stamp set!!!I love making cards for our heros for many reasons. But if I had to name just one it would be so that they can keep in touch with their families and loved ones back home. I think it is so important for them to be able to stay in contact and stay involved with everyone back home. Life continues while they are away and it is a way for them to be there in the lives of there loved ones. I have made over 1000 cards for them so far and plan to continue. I love to think of the love and connection that these cards are able to bring to the heroes and the loved ones. -Christie http://creationsbychristie.blogspot.com

  27. Mel - I love this new set. While I do know a few people in the military - I know hundreds of missionaries serving both here in the states and oversees. This is the perfect set for them - to remind them how much their service is needed and appreciated. Thanks for the chance to win a set!

  28. Thank you for this lovely set. It shows lots of versatility in making cards to keep our troops in contact with loved ones at home. It will be fun to see the creativity that comes from using this set.

  29. Melanie, some friends were at my house yesterday helping me "triage" cards for sending to the troops, and your stamp set was mentioned. Of course, we had to stop our work and go look! This is an awesome set with so many good uses! I can't wait to see what OWH card makers do with this set! I'll be ordering a set too! May have to order 2...it's a great blog prize!

    Thank you!

  31. I love this set. I make cards for Operation WELCOME home in Maryland. This is a group that meets soldiers coming home from overseas. AND, my friends and I support OWH in CNY at our stamping events.
Thank you for your support for our military. My son is currently serving in the USAF.

  32. Thank you so much, Melanie, for the lovely and oh so appropriate stamps for our hero cards. It's a joy to make them and I look forward to using these digis going forward!

  33. Love the new stamp set! It's beautiful and has so many perfect sentiments. My husband is in the Navy and I know how much getting handmade cards meant to him when he was deployed. I love sending cards to OWH knowing that it might brighten someone's day.

  34. Thanks Melanie for a chance to win another of your lovely sets! I love this one! Works for so many! I do some for the OWH but I also do for breast cancer awareness since I'm now a Survivor! Would love to win this.

  35. I love making cards and first did it for OWH because it was so much fun. I had just been making them for family. The more I did it,the more I read the troops letters to us, the more important that I continue doing this. I know of several neighbors sons that are serving us now, so there are at 7 or 8 from our small town. The troops are more apt to write home more with our cards and it just makes you cry when you read their responses about the cards. For that reason, I will continue to make cards for OWH and loving every minute of it!! Thank you Gina K for giving us the opportunity to win your great stamps for OWH!!

  36. I love the set. It is perfect for all of my friends and family members who are in the military and deployed.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love making cards for OWH because I know how much more personal something handwritten and 'handled' by the soldier is to their loved ones. It provides just a little more connection to them than an email does. And putting time and effort into something beautiful for a soldier to use is my little way of saying thank you to them.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Melanie, this is so sweet to pair with OWH. I would love to win this set.

  39. Such a beatiful set you designed for OWH. Very versitile ... gender doesn't matter on this one. Colors won't make a difference either. All who receive a card from this beautiful set will smile big as they hide their tears of joy. TY for the design, and the chance to win this set.

  41. what a great idea:) my husband has been to iraq twice. we have four girls (i delivered 2 while he was away) i used to make him crafty goodies all the time. monthly family magazines, cards of course, decorated journals ect. after a few month he actually asked me to send him some cards and envelopes that he could fill out and mail home.so i know this is a great idea. while people are serving in the military it really helps receiving mail and sending it out;)

    ReplyDelete
  42. My brother served in the military & he said there were men & women who went their entire tour without getting mail. That is just heartbreaking to me! It's such an easy way for a paper crafter to show our service men & women that they are appreciated!

  43. What such a beautiful stamp set, Melanie! I love your creations! I read your writing and felt so much warmth in my heart.

When I started making cards for our troops two years ago by participating in a Cards for Heroes Drive, I was very new but I was so thankful for what I can do for our troops as a small token of my sincere appreciation for their services so I kept on going. I met a lot of great people and made new friends through cardmaking for our troops. Very grateful!

  44. What a fantastic stamp set you have created. It is perfect for OWH cards. I received a Cards for Heroes cards from my daughter when she was serving in Iraq. It meant so much to me that I knew I wanted to be involved. Thank you for the chance to win this beautiful set!

  46. What a lovely set and so perfect to use for OWH. I first sent approx 1500 cards to OWH (when it was called Cards for Heroes) but then was only sending to my friends' family members for them to distribute to their fellow troops. I started back with OWH for their Valentine card drive. And I'm now working on my Easter cards for OWH. Thanks for a chance to win your new set.

  51. I grew up in a military family during the Vietnam War. My dad did a tour in Vietnam. It was very hard for him to leave us and it was hard for the family being left behind. This stamp set is perfect for so many occasions, but is a wonderful way to let our service men and women know how much we all miss them and how much we appreciate their scarifices and the sacrifices of their familiesfor their service to our country. THANK YOU for this set and thank you for the opportunity to win it!

  52. My hero is my father who served in the Air force in WWII. I was only one year old when my Mother and I followed my dad. They hooked me to a clothes line so I wouldn't get lost with all the barracks looking alike. Our family was very fortunate that my dad and his brothers and close friends all returned home alive and well. These stamps remind me of the stories I heard from my Dad and what all generations have given for the love of this country. I live near Dover AF Base and say thank you for your service on a daily basis.

  53. Right after I straightened up my craft room and finally got it organized enough to use, I discovered exactly how much stuff I have. There is no way I could ever use all the products I had in my stash.
About that time, I discovered OWH. PERFECT. What better way to use all the supplies I have and show my appreciation for our men and women fighting so that I can have this beautiful home and a room to play in.
I've told everyone I know about the project and would love to add this beautiful stamp to my collection. Thanks for the project and thanks for the chance to win this amazing stamp.

  55. I make cards for heroes because I appreciate their serice and sacrifice. As a military spouse who is unfit to serve herself, I know how difficult it is to be separated from loved ones, especially when they are in harms way, and how much a card from home means. That is why I am grateful for the Operation Write Home Organization and glad to be a part of it. Thanks for designing this terrific set for us to create with Melanie, and thanks for the chance to win it!!

  59. Well I haven't made anything for the troops before because today is the first time I have ever heard of this project but I am definitely going to be participating. I have a son in the Army who has served in Iraq twice. His dad and I are so very proud of him and he is very proud to be serving his country and loves his job. He is one of my heros among many. I have another hero who is one of my very best friends. She spends majority of her time serving others. She is one of the most awesome people I have ever met and I can't wait to tell her about this project because I know she will want to participate as well. Anything to make our Troops and their families lives easier. (Oh, I just remembered I did participate is a group that made hats for our troops. That was so fun.)

  60. WOW Melanie thanks to you I've visited OWH & I will start right now making cards for our service people and their families! We can not Thank our Military people enough!!!!!! One of my co-worker's daughter was deployed to Iraq.

    ReplyDelete
  61. My husband was in the Air Force for 29 years and I appreciate your thinking of a way to thank people in the military and in different areas of service in our community. My family and I signed about 30 cards one Thanksgiving for servicemen, but I wasn't making cards at that time.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I love hearing the story behind your creation of these stamps. Thank you so much for thinking of our military families and creating something with them specifically in mind!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I can only imagine how much the service men and women enjoy receiving these cards. It must be so hard to be away from those they love but at the same time a sense of fullfillment for serving their country. Receiving cards thanking them for their service shows them just how much they are appreciated and receiving cards to send home must give them a great feeling as well. Let's keep those cards going to our soldiers girls!!!!! :->

I love to hear from my loved ones and I am sure that they love to send cards to there loved ones and hear from them as well. My beloved was in the Navy many moons ago and now my younger brother serves our great country in the USAF he puts his life on the line for our freedoms a strong family bond many generations of service memebers thats why I do what I can to give back in my own little way...

  71. I am a resident of Tucson and have been watching the local news for hours about the tragedy that happened here today. It reminds me that not only are our soldiers here and abroad serving us, but so are our local authorities, as well as those who serve us in the government. It is very easy to criticize the government these days, but Gabrielle Gifford was doing her job today by meeting with her constituency and has paid a terrible cost. I find this stamp set truly inspirational for our heroes everywhere and I thank you, Melanie for creating it.

  80. Really lovely stamp set! Why do I make cards for OWH? My dad is a retired Marine, and I remember how much we all loved getting mail from him when he was deployed. I like to think that the cards I make might help light up someone's day while their sailor, soldier, airman, or Marine is serving overseas. It's something, even just a small thing, that I can do from here while our armed forces protect all of us from over there.

  82. I've been sending cards to OWH for about a year now. I have a nephew in Kuwait and know how much the cards are appreciated. Your set is so awesome for this purpose and I would love to own one.

  83. Thank you so much for making this stamp set for our military women and men. I will definitely use this set to sent cards overseas.
My hero is my son. He is a Marine who just came home from Afghanistan in December. He has 2 more years to serve us.
Some of his friends are over there now. They will really like cards they can send home.

  86. I have just recently found OWH so I haven't contributed yet. I plan on doing so in the very near future.

My husband recently tried to get back into the service and was unfortunately denied. He is so passionate about the servicemen and I now share his passion.

Thanks for the chance to win a set.

  87. Melanie, I love this set...not just for OWH(but mostly) but also because of all service people. I am now disabled, but I was a health care professional by trade. I also support fire and police personnel.
This is the freshest idea in stamps I have seen in a long time.
and I'd like you to know...
make cards for OWH because I am a Patriot, an American, a child of Americans both immigrants and Native, a Parent of Americans (truly---they are such mixes of heritages). I make cards for OWH because If I wanted to be, I could be "A Daughter of the Revolution".
I make cards for OWH because I am a daughter of a WWII Veteran(Navy), RIP (gone now going on 6 years), niece of a WWII veteran(Army), injured quite seriously during "The Battle of the Bulge"; a recipient of the Purple Heart, now also passed on. I am a wife of a Veteran(Navy), Step-Mom of a Veteran(Navy),my late BIL was also a veteran (Navy) and my daughters have dated a couple of service men, one was engaged for a while(Army). the other never reached that status but they were together for over 3 years and are still good friends(Navy). I have several cousins that are veterans, and some still serving.

I make cards for OWH because I can, because they are doing what they do, so we can do what we want to do, and because they try to help other nations have the rights that we do.

I make cards for OWH because I want to, because I am proud of those that serve, as I am disabled and can not(and older now also, LOL).

I make cards for OWH because it is the right thing to do, a good thing to do, it is the LEAST I can do, and I do it with my heart.

I may not make as many cards as some of the other gals, but I do what I can. All 4 of my limbs are compromised, and I have spine issues also. I create when I can, and 90% of all the cards I make are for OWH.

I am PROUD to be able to say all of those things, I am PROUD of OPERATION WRITE HOME. I am PROUD of all the people who make the cards, the people that ship the cards, the people that pay to ship the cards, of organizations and companies that support OWH. MOSTLY I am PROUD of the initial recipients of our cards, and also PROUD of those they are sent home to, as I know the sacrifice they make.

I make cards for OWH because I am a PROUD, DAMNED YANKEE! LOL (and I have the right to say so, thanks to those who have served and continue to serve)

Thanks Melanie & Gina K for a remarkable stamp set, and for donating 2. Thanks for the opportunity to win one.

  88. Melanie, thank you for putting your artist skills to work to create such a beautiful set with which to make cards to send to the troops. I have been blessed to refer two different units to Sandy and have heard back from those guys in those units that received the cards and they were surprised and thrilled and those back at home were just as excited to receive the cards they sent. Thanks for sharing your art.

  89. As I wrote on the OWH blog, I am a disabled veteran and have deployed in the past, leaving my four children behind. It was very important to them to hear from mom and now, making cards for OWH, I can help other military folks keep in touch with their loved ones.

It is a beautiful set, thank you!

  90. I make cards for OWH because I am a disabled veteran and a mother who was deployed away from her child. We wrote often and I know how important it was to keep in touch. My son loved the cards I would find and send him, and I sure loved seeing cards from him. I was able to buy cards to send my son, but there are no BXs for many of our troops to shop at. I also want our troops to know we care and that we are thinking about them.
As far as knowing a hero, I feel every military person over there is a hero. I know at lot of them but one comes to mind. She is a paper crafter and stamper, and her two youngest ones (twins) had just turned two when she got deployed. I know how hard it must have been for her to leave them and go. 18 months is a long time. My heart goes out to her.

  91. I love the idea for this stamp set. Ever since I saw Taylor Swift using it, I just KNEW it would make a great card for the troops. Thanks!

  92. I love to send notes of incouragement to others verse just sending a email. I get the pleasure of the creative process in making the card and they have the fun of opening an actule card. It is a win win.

  93. This stamp set that you designed is fantastic. You can really tell your heart was in this set, I love making cards for our men and women in the service. It just kind of shows them that we at home are thinking about them and really appreciate what they are doing for us and our country. They are the backbone of this country and need all the love and support that we can give them.

  94. Melanie,
I love this set as I make 100 cards a month for OWH all by myself. Since I've retired I get to play all day and your set is wonderful since it can be used for police, firemen, nurses, doctors. Thank you for making this amazing set.

  95. All of the brave men and women who serve our country are heroes!

  96. What an awesome set, Melanie!!! I make cards to let our heroes know that they aren't forgotten while they're serving our country. I want them to know that I care and this is a small way that I can show them. I also make cards to be an encouragement to the families of the heroes who will receive the cards from their special heroes. I like to pray for the heroes and their families as I make the cards.

  97. Reason #1 is my husband is a hero. He is active duty military.
We know lots of military and have military in our family as well. I love to send cards to people serving just to let them know we support and love them.

  98. I come from a family who has fought for the freedoms of our country for many years. My Grandfather was in WWI
my dad in WW2, and many of my classmates and friends fought in VietNam. My husband was in the Navy but never deployed. Two of my daughters were in the USAF and my son was in the Army and served in Iraq. Many of friends have children and grandchildren serving in the military.
I just attended a funeral for a friend's son who was killed in Afghanistan the end of Nov. Our servicemen and women are giving their lives to fight for our freedom, we need to let them know that we appreicate them and think about them.
This set is a beautiful way to do that. I want the members of my 4-H club to realize that men and women are serving in the military and fighting for our freedom and it is not something to be taken for granted, so throughout the year we make cards and send them to our servicemen.

  99. You're inspiration is inspiring. I have a co-worker who just sent her now fiancé back to Afganhistan recently. I keep in touch with Randal with FB, he and so many others would enjoy the cards. I'll try to get a few on the way..it's the least I could.

  100. As always, you have the biggest heart! Love your set, the concept, and what you are doing with OWH. I loved your Hand in Hand set, and would love this one just as much. Thanks for all you do, Mel. Some local scrappers and I are working on cards for troops. We have a group called the Lutz Patriots nearby and they are ready and willing to accept and send our cards.

  101. This is such a cool set supporting our military! We need to support the men & women making daily sacrifices to protect our freedom. Thank you for having such a big heart and spreading your love!

  102. I make cards for the heroes because I can. There isn't much I can do to help them or their loved ones during times of separation, but if a card I makes helps them feel better and not so sad for even a minute, then it is worth every single card I make!

  103. This set is truly awesome! Thank you for sharing it and all the wonderful samples you provided. If I am lucky enough to win it, I will definitely use it for OWH.

  104. I started making cards for OWH after I found out about the
organization this summer. In 2005 my boyfriend received his deployment papers and for about a year and a half had a very emotional experience being apart. I was constantly worrying about him. I cherished any opportunity to talk or write or email to him. Just 3 months before he
came home I went off to basic training. The only means of
communication was through letters. Anyone who says letter writing is
in the past is mistaken. An email cannot express the excitement of a written letter or beautiful card. The excitement of receiving "free
mail" is the best and I am so glad I get to be a part of it! I have since fallen in love with making cards as a hobby but mostly for OWH knowing my card will help a fellow service member keep in contact with their friends and family!

  105. I can't wait to get this new set. I've been sending cards "to" service people;but am now going to add OWH to my card donations. What a wonderful project!!! My nephew is a fighter pilot in the Marines. He's currently deployed; missed the holidays at home and his son's 2nd birthday. We pray that he'll return home safely later this month; as well as prayers for all our guys and gals who serve so valiantly. God bless and keep them safe.

  108. Melanie your newest set is so perfect for making cards for the wonderful people who serve our country and all the other heroes who give their time to help others. My daughter has a dear friend who will be deployed oversees soon and my niece has recently joined the National Guard, so I'm sure I will be making them both cards. Also, my future son-in-law is training to become a firefighter paramedic. So your set is a must have for me. Thanks for creating it.

  109. Melanie, I love your commitment to OWH about sending a card for every Home/Heart set sold. As soon as I read about OWH, I started gathering up (and making new) cards specifically to send to them. I have sent cards for use by military folks in various care packages, but never knew about OWH until this past weekend. I will make and send cards every month from now on. My own grandson is a Marine who has served 2 tours in Iraq, and has made the decision to be a career Marine. Thanks again for your commitment and the way you chose to honor those who serve and protect us.

  110. Melanie, this set you have designed is so awesome and says so much even if no sentiment is used. What better way to convey to our heros that they are in our hearts 24/7. I just signed up to join the OWH cause a week ago and am busy making cards to send. Its funny last night, hubby and I walked into a restaurant and there stood a good looking young marine in his dress uniform. My hubby and I both shook his hand and thanked him for his service. He smiled and said you are welcome ma'am. He stated he would be heading to afghanistan in a couple of weeks. I said to be sure and check with your base as the OWH is sending boxes of cards to the bases over there. I asked if he was from here and he stated yes, he was here at the resturant visiting his "female" friend (smiling really big) who happen to be the hostess. We wished him luck again and said he would be in our prayers. As she walked us back to our table, I asked is he extra-special to you and she just gleamed with the biggest smile and put her hands together to form the heart and placed it over hers. I think there maybe romance in the air ;)(wink). But imagine my surprise when I came home to check my emails and clicked on the link to OWH and there was your set! This is definitely a set that is needed to be purchased and then I thought hmmm, I should make a couple for the hostess at the restaurant for her to send to her "special" marine. Melanie thanks for an awesome set! It will bring warm fuzzy feelings to our heros.

I am off to check out the OWH site. I would love to send them some cards!

  114. Love this set! I got involved with Operation Write Home through a friend whose son has been serving in the middle east for the last 7 months (he came home last week--woohoo!). I love that I can do something that I love and help support our soldiers at the same time.

Thank you for thinking of those who serve both at home and away. I have been around the military all my life. I lived in a military city so I always around it. I married a Navy man and I am glad that I am able to support him and others with the cards that I make.
