Purple(ish) Iris

Well, I have decided to share this card today, the first I made with my set a few weeks ago and I was on the fence about it only because I knew from Monday's hop that Sharon would be sharing an iris sample with very similar colors in her own step by step tutorial for Copic  (just posted, have a look!) , and I wasn't sure, "Do people even need to see a video for this after seeing that?"  I think not!  Pretty similar, no?

We used slightly different colors, but here they are:
R83, RV19, RV55, Y35, Y11, YG11, G07, and G17

Okay, so it's a little pinker, I guess :)

Stately Flowers 8
Pure Luxury White, Black Onyx, Wild Lilac
Gina K. Black Onyx ink

I made the frame with a Stately Circles Spellbinders die* and Cuttlebugged the base with Victoria Folder.  backgroudnis sponged with Ocean Mist.

If I really *must* color this for you, let me know.  ;) Otherwise, I have another iris card planned with some tips I think will be very helpful in designing arrangements...

*Isn't that perfect?  "Stately" with a "Stately"?

  1. They are both GORGEOUS! This image is fabulous, great fun to color, even when your name is not Melanie or Sharon! ;) I did an Orange Blossom card similar to your video--thank you for posting that--soooooo helpful! (mine not as pretty as yours, but for me it is grand!) lol I say keep the videos coming.....and thank you!

  3. I love both versions. You ladies sure do make them look fantastic. And, this set is on my wish list too. I love the Iris flower and used to raise a lot of them when I was younger and more able bodied!

  4. Beautiful. I always love seeing different color combinations for irises. It really helps have the Copic colors you used. I'm looking forward to seeing some two tone irises. My set is on its way so I hope to be able to play this weekend.

  9. Absolutely make a video. I love Sharon's iris, and I love yours. Anytime we can watch someone color it's very helpful, even if two of you use the same colors. It's like a pot of chili - everyone's is different...lol!

  11. Love the purple one, it reminds me of my Grandma's front yard. She had a bunch of these in her yard. One of my favorite flowers because of that memory.
