Video: Stamped Faux Die Cut Borders

Good morning! In today's video*, I'll show you how to stamp intricate looking faux die cut borders for your projects with the patterned stamps in my Fabulous Holiday Fillers stamp set from Gina K. Designs. This is a 2 layer card! I am so stinkin' excited about the possibilities! A great layered look over patterned paper, but there's no layering, OR patterned paper! I also mix in elements from my Fabulous Frame Fillers stamp set. So many ways to change these up, you can add or subtract to customize your own designs to make them as fancy or simple as you please. :)

Even though I was sitting right there when I stamped (obviously)  my brain was still believing I had punched it out all anyway!  The eefect is so cool.

 Supplies:
Gina K. Designs Fabulous Holiday Fillers, Fabulous Frame Fillers GKD Pure Luxury Cherry Red and White cardstock
GKD Dark Chocolate and Cherry Red ink pads
adhesive pearls

* Yep, it only took one person to say, "Yes, post it early!" I couldn't wait.  Readers get the goods!

Ready for a Challenge?

What was the last crafty challenge you played?  This week's StampTV MIUM challenge, hosted by Cathy Tidwell, is so minimal, it should be quick and easy!  "It takes two, only two!"  I made this Hanukkah design for my stepfather with GKD Pure Luxury Little Boy Blue and Blue Denim cardstock, and GKD Blue Denim ink.  TIP:  Stamping off help create a third "shade" although it's still just two colors! I used the dashed border from Fabulous Frame Fillers* and the sentiment and Star of David from my Fabulous Holiday Fillers set. Dies come from the Spellbinders Matting Basics B set.  I did a little sponging with the Blue Denim ink at the corners as well to help set the popped up mats apart. I also added just a touch of the clear Wink of Stella glitter pen for sparkle.

I hope you'll play along, challenges help you grow! (and possibly grow your crafting stash with some prizes!  Good luck!)   Be sure to use the tag STV14MON42 when you upload to the StampTV gallery and refer to this post for challenge rules.  Have a great day!

Gina K. Designs Mini Hop for You!

Good morning and happy Monday! Please hop along with a few of the Gina K. Designs designers and illustrators for a mini hop of inspiration with some of the newest stamp sets!  (We are enjoying this release so much we can’t keep our hands off it) Don’t forget to leave a comment as you hop through the blogs because we have a have a free stamp set to give away-Fabulous Frame, currently out of stock and on reorder, but we have one set reserved as a prize that might have your name on it!  Comment will be randomly drawn from one of the blogs and the winner will be announced on Tuesday in the StampTV forum.  Please enjoy this special hop!

I've had some people ask me if there are other uses for the belly band fillers besides filling in the frame. Ready? This is a 2 layer card.  Yes, it is!  Isn't that adorable with the Fabulous Holiday Fillers belly band and polka dot circle stamped inside like a punched scallop border, revealing what looks like a beautiful chocolate print underneath?  Just white cardstock and ink! Adding that circle in the center of each scallop really completes the illusion.  Can't wait to try it with the plaid and houndstooth! I added some GKD Pink Petite Flower Washi, the small scallop border from Fabulous Frame Fillers, and finally one of my new greetings and little heart.  I just love this simple thank you design. Base is Ocean Mist.  Ink is GKD Dark Chocolate and Innocent Pink.

Here we have them again, but this is a three layer card.  Fun retro gift and ornament designer paper from the Winter Cheer Kit, white cardstock underneath that where I stamped the pinking border in GKD Christmas Pine ink and belly band and circle with GKD Red Hot (don't those polka dots and border go great with the patterned packages?!), and finally the GKD Pure Luxury Ocean Mist base.  A little coordinating red gingham and stamped sentiment, card complete!

Now let's go see what the rest of my Gina K. designing friends have for us today!  Don't forget to leave comments to try to win a prize!  (If you already have Fabulous Frame, don't forget your stamping bestie!  The holidays are coming!) ;)

Did you like this mini hop? Thanks for hopping with us!
Hope your week is off to a great start!

Video: Dress up Washi, Ribbon and More with Fabulous Holiday Fillers

In today’s video, I’ll show you some fun ideas for how to use the borders and smaller images in my Fabulous Holiday Fillers set to enhance and accent your Washi, as well as dress up strips of patterned paper and ribbon. You can also stamp directly on the Washi to change the season or occasion. I have lots of tips as well as how you can use the small circles in the set to make scalloped borders and patterns with just a little masking.

I didn’t leave enough room for the longer "proud of you" greeting I was planning for the front, but I forgot to say that sentiment is perfect for stamping inside the card!:)

Supplies:
Gina K. Designs Fabulous Holiday Filers stamp set
GKD Pure Luxury White cardstock
GKD Red Hot, Blue Raspberry ink pads
Gina K. Wild Washi-Yellow Stripe and Red Polka Dots
Scratch paper, sticky notes for masking, and adhesive foam

I Heard the Bells....

Here is a quick card I made with the little bell and circle images from  Fabulous Holiday Fillers and the dotted border from Fabulous Frame Fillers (stock is getting low again, heads up!).  Aren't those dainty new 'ornaments" fun?  Ink is GKD Ocean Mist, Christmas Pine and Red Hot, cardstock is Pure Luxury White and Christmas Pine.  Greeting is from the Winter Cheer kit.

Do borders first and then add ornaments. The borders are stamped off in between to create the lighter shade. Tip: Vary the lengths to add interest and when you are stamping off, be sure to make that chain shorter than the full inked version next to it, as making it longer will result in a two tone effect (not in a good way), betraying where you hit the edge of the cardstock the first time you stamped.  Full disclosure:  Those pearls are fun, right? Well, two are covering up very small smudges of ink i got on my card, yes, they are!  So "make it work"! I always try to use odd numbers, vary the size of the pearls or rhinestones, and add them in places were the smudges aren't to help make this seem intentional, but still random.  This little pixie dust" scattering of small embellishments on a card is very popular right now, but it's also a great way to save your design. :)

I definitely think I will be mass producing this design.  I am so happy with how that tiny bell detail can fill up this design for great impact.  Hope this gives you ideas for how to use those tiny stamps! Maybe a Hanukkah card like this using blues and silver and the Star of David?  You could even make a fun spring card in pastels hanging the tiny butterflies and flowers from this set, you know?  Very festive and sweet!

Tell me: which pattern in here is your fave?  Polka dots, plaid, or houndstooth?  I want to hear from you!

Have a fabulous weekend!  Make it so!

Inspiration Hop, Day 3: Winter Cheer StampTV Kit

Good morning! The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to our final fabulous Inspiration Blog Hop this week! Gina, along with the Cast and Crew and Guest Designers, will inspire you with many beautiful ideas! As you hop through our blogs, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a few random comments and those stampers will each win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products. To see the full list of winners check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hops.

Don't you love this new Winter Cheer StampTV Kit?  It is such a great way to go for all those cards you need to make for the holidays, matching supplies boxed and ready for you!  I decided to use all of these wonderful stylized greetings to make a subway art card.  Inks are GKD Cherry Red, Grass Green, Ocean Mist and Prickly Pear and cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury White and Ocean Mist.   I began in the middle with the large red "Wishing you..." wanting that prominently featured, working my way out with the different greetings, not wanting any two colors to be right next to each other, and finally filling in spaces where greetings didn't really fit with the beautiful snowflakes.  I buy Christmas wraps for our gifts similar to this almost every year because I just love how festive all those different celebratory ways to say merry Christmas look together.  Like happy, shouting carolers at your door!  I used some of the kit's ribbon and gold cording and bell as a simple accent, not wanting to cover too much of the stamping.

Today we are showcasing Theresa Momber's Peace and Joy Christmas set!  I stamped the bird tone on tone on some Pure Luxury Grass Green cardstock and then stamped it in again in GKD Black Onyx ink on white cardstock and colored.  I cut out the circle with a die and colored with Spectrum Noir markers (DR2, DR3, DR1, OR1, CG4, GG4, EB3) I sponged a little around the edges with GKD Moonlit Fog ink to make it look rounder. I popped it up over the green mat to spotlight the image but also to look like a an ornament.  I stamped my straight snowflake border from new Fabulous Holiday Fillers to "hang" it from and then made a double bow with some of the GKD gold cording.  I alsofree cut a little topper for the ornament from some GKD Good as Gold cardstock. Finally, I sponged the edges of the mat with the matching ink before adding the GKD Black Onyx mat. Cardbase is Pure Luxury Red Hot.

Peace and Joy- CLEAR
