Inspiration Hop, Day 1: Stately Flowers 9 and Knit-Wit Diva

Good morning and welcome to another Inspiration hop with the Gina K. Designs team! As you hop through each member's blog, make sure to leave a comment on each of them because we will choose a few random comments and those stampers will each win a grab bag of Gina K. Designs products! To see the full list of winners, check the Big News Forum at StampTV in a few days.
In today's video, I demonstrate the pullin' pastel technique with my Stately Flowers 9 set, using simple sidewalk chalk!   I found a box of chalk at the dollar store for my kids a long time ago, and these work just as well as a chalk palette that has more colors, although you are of course limited to fewer shades.  A box of white pink, blue, green and yellow chalk will take you pretty far when you layer them over different cardstocks!  The invisible Versamark ink sticks to the chalk and pulls it away, hence the name, leaving a beautiful image behind on a muted chalky background. The script and flowers in this set will make *amazing* backgrounds with this technique.  Using the script on one side and the flowers on the other, divided by the ribbon, creates the illusion of more layers on your card. Flowers are colored with Spectrum Noir markers and the colors are listed below.

Supplies:
Gina K. Designs Stately Flowers 9 stamp set
Gina K. Dark Chocolate and Versamark ink pads
Gina K. Pure Luxury Dark Chocolate (4" x 5 1/4"), White (2 3/4" x 3") and Passionate Pink cardstock (5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4")
Spectrum Noir markers:
PP1, PP2, PP6, DR1- petals
CT2 middle
CG2, CG3, CG4, PP2 leaves
EB3, EB6 stem
IG2 shadow
sponge dauber or cotton ball and chalk
Gina K. Chocolate Organza ribbon

Next, we have this darling set "Knit-Wit Diva" by Debbie Corbari. I don't knit, but this set makes me want to. Maybe I can just send cards now, though, with a girl knitting and people will think I can do it all! (This is me, when my hair was longer...) ;)
Debbie, you had me at "Knit-Wit"!  Sooo cute, love the puns, as always! I especially love this knit border in the set!  After stamping the diva in the middle, I started at the top with the border, then did the two sides, then connected them on the bottom. I trimmed down my paper afterwards.  Just right for a 4 1/4" square card! I had fun adding the little stamped button accents and needles to the corners, no 3-D embellishments needed! Finally, coloring everything in, oh boy, I'll try to remember what all I used because I forgot to write them down: Spectrum Noir EB3, EB5, EB6, IB2, IB3, CR10, GB4, BG3,  DR2, FS4, FS3.  The basket is cut out and popped up.
Cardstock is Wild Dandelion, Dark Chocolate, and White.

Don't forget about the monthly incentives, they look terrific this month!  ( But don't really worry about forgetting them, though, they are immediately added to you qualifying order) :)

  4. Lovely cards - Love the way you colored the diva! I never think to do anything but blue pants - then I do a blue shirt - ha ha - this time i did a blue shirt and a black pair of yoga pants - but this is fun. Love the knitting needles in the corner! Super cute! And the coloring of your flowers was beautiful - the white space you leave just makes things so beautifully realistic!

  62. Melanie,

I have never been much of a "pink girl," or a "flower girl" either. But your flower stamps still inspire me and I am anxious to try. How do you keep the chalk dust from coming off onto everything that touches it?

    Linda B

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Linda, if you maximize the screen and watch closely you'll see pink dust accumulating around the mat. The dust gets rubbed away as you swirl the sponge around, which is just leaving color pressed into mat. If you did not use something to rub it in, then it would still be powdery to touch but this way you are good to go. Hope this helps!
