It's here! :)
For today's hop, I wanted to share some simple samples that show off "Inspiration Mosaic" differently than I have so far. Both are easy to create, but I love the effect. The first is a card using paper piecing, but this one doesn't look at all like a quilt! Cardstock is Pure Luxury Ivory and Black Onyx. I stamped the grid in Memento Black onto the ivory CS and pieced with two prints from the Basic Grey Granola DP over it. Don't you just love these "textures"? One of my faves in this earthy pack is this gorgeous black wood grain. Really makes this card feel like it has wood panels instead of just paper!
To keep the piecing simple, the black print is all one piece, and then I cut out three separate pieces of the fern print on top of that. And that was it! The greeting from the set on top is one of the top boxes on Ivory cut out and then mounted in the middle, you can pop up a focal point anywhere on the grid, centered it makes a really strong statement. How's that for a masculine card?
On this next card I was going for stained glass look like the Mission style or Prairie School stained glass windows, click here for designs to inspire, modify or recreate. The grid is a little different this time, right?? To give the grid more facets for coloring, use Post-it notes and the solid black line stamp included in the set, it is the same width as the grid border so your new stamped lines will blend in with the original layout seamlessly.
When you adhere the line to your gridline block, simply cover the borders of the small areas you want to break up with your Post its and use the lines on the block to keep your stamped lines parallel to the parallels in the grid. I stamped three new lines at the left, right and bottom of the mat to make three little sections for the green, orange and blue. Next I used the square outline image, mounting the corners diagonally across the gridline on the block and stamping over the horizontals of the grid to make this repeating pattern. It was fun adding all the colors of the rainbow to contrast the black and white for a festive birthday card (a little like modern confetti! LOL!)
So here's the deal with the blog candy!! I'm so excited about this new set along with 500, 000 hits I added some extras to the stamp set donated by Gina K! Please leave a comment in this post about what inspires you. I will announce a winner this Thursday night. That person will receive a signed copy of the "Inspiration Mosaic" set, a card I made with it, the September issue of CardMaker which features two cards I created using Gina K Designs stamps, an assortment of over 60 Basic Grey and Black Market Designer papers, AND a bag of buttons and brads to match! :) If you already have the set, you can still enter, just promise if you win to give it the stamps to someone who inspires you, okay? ;)

ReplyDeleteWow--each card I have seen so far is just amazing that you have created with this stamp. I am so impressed with the variety of ideas not only you have, but other designers as well. What inspires me--just the little things around me--someday is the color of a bottle on the shelf, the next day colors from the roosters, etc. Basically it all seems to come from nature's beauty.
ReplyDeleteI went to CHA and have not ordered your stamp yet, must do that this week. I loved it when it looked like a quilt since I'm a quilter, but it is exquisite as a stained glass window that you've done tonight and the masculine one is so dignified. I can't wait to see all the other ideas tonight. And I get inspiration from people like you on the internet and in magazines. Thank you.

I'm really loving all the ideas I've seen with the mosaic stamp. Congratulations on your huge number of hits. The candy sounds fabulous. Someone will be very lucky! I get my inspiration from the work so many generous people share on their blogs. I've learned so much about stamping from the hints and tips I've picked up along the way. Thanks to you and all the others who are so willing to share.
ReplyDeleteWhat inspires me? All the wonderful stamp designs I find on your blog, Gina K's blog and website, and her Stamp TV site. I'm waiting -not too patiently - for my Inspiration Mosiac Stamp so I can create some of the ideas that are flitting around in my head. Today's samples are great - especially the Stained Glass Mosaic - Nice!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by colors and images that catch my eye. I am inspired when I am having one of those days where I feel awesome and I am inspired by my kids... Sometimes these days are few and far between but so worth it!!

ReplyDeleteI get much of my spiritual inspiration from my miracle daughter. She has such deep faith and is an inspiration to so many. One of her new nurses told me yesterday that "Jessica just radiates love". She is right. I'm so honored to be her mom. (I know that you probably already knew that Mel, huh?) But thanks for the opportunity to express it here. ((hugs))!
Awesome creativity. Who inspires me is the awesome talented Gina K Design team who never ceases to amaze. What a great prize package. My birthday is coming Mel *wink wink* LOL
