Chocolate Alert!

Great party last night, if you missed it well, woo hoo, I am tired!!! (the design team guest designers, and Gina K fans were in full effect!) I was going to post my tip sheet for "The Best Things in Life"(<--you can see the full set now by clicking on that link!) today, but after all the discussion last night I need to add more stuff to it LOL! So excited everyone is lovin' on this set! :) Instead I'll share a favorite project I peeked during the party, it got more than a few "how'd you do that??"

This may look like the real thing, but the following card has NO calories!

Here is a fun shaped card I created, inspired by the "covered in chocolate" greeting in my set. It fits into an A2 envelope and the wrap is made from Paper Temptress Hot Fudge and SU! Brushed Silver, the chocolate bar base was made with Long Rectangle Nestabilities and SU! Chocolate Chip. Wrapper is embossed in silver to look like a very popular candy bar! See how these two different shades of brown paper make it look like the real deal? ;)

I embossed the smaller chocolate sections into my card front with smaller long rectangle dies. To create the wrapper, I just wrapped my Pop Tone Hot Fudge paper and silver paper around my card like you would wrap a real candy bar and adhered at the back. Rip one end of the wrap and crinkle with fingers for realism! (like you had to get to that candy fast!! :)

Here you can see the card pulled out of the wrap and opened to reveal SURPRISE! a chocolate- covered pink center (raspberry? strawberry? pick your pleasure!) This greeting is also embossed in silver, on Paper Temptress Mountain Rose Glimmer paper. I had to sneak out a little "bite" with my SU! scallop punch! ;)

Here it is tipped so you can see the shimmer (er, glimmer!) A wonderful guilt-free indulgence for Valentine's Day! This would be fun as just a playful greeting card or holder* or for a check or GC, too because everything 's better covered with chocolate, right?
Have a great weekend! Her are some "Best Things" peeks from one of my guest designers this month Shannon Bracken if you missed the party! :)
Oh, BTW, now that you've seen the whole set, which sentiments would you INK up first?? ;)
*or maybe an April Fool's gag, leave it out and see how many people try to pick it up!! (snort!!)

  1. OMG - I was just heading to my kitchen to satisfy my chocolate craving with a bar of dark chocolate w/pomegranate when the new entry update came in. Love this one - I'll have to check out the nestabilities set @ my LSS. As for what to ink up first, I love the 'the best things in life are' along with 'covered in chocolate' and 'caffeinated'. :D

  14. Melanie, this was my favorite from last night. I've said it before but repeat it again. You are a genius! You even embossed the chocolate bar to make it look so real. Now I need some nesties so I can CASE this. Thank you for sharing the details on how you made it. I did not order anything yet. But I will be getting your latest set. And when I do, the first phrase I use will contain the word caffeinated. Thanks for thinking of all us coffee addicts. :) Have a super day!

  30. the best things is life.."come in small packages" is what I would ink up first.

I love little boxes. They just get me all excited. To see what could be stuff into or gently placed in a small box is thrilling to me! :)
(which means hubby stuffed socks in a small box to trick me one time-and a diamond ring in another!)

  43. Awesome!
    How cool is this?
you are really talented to create this! I wish I could be arty!
I have tried before, but the glitter glue went everywhere and I just made a total mess! With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, I guess this would be the perfect time to try and be experiment with crafts, but if like me you are a little bit useless then I think I have found a really nice alternative! My friend Jenny sent me an electronic greetings card whilst she was on holiday in America this year, and I thought it was such a good idea! I spent ages looking on the internet doing some research, and found a really good
Free Valentine's Day e-Cardsite. I am a big fan of this site and one of the best things about it is that it is totally free, so not only are you saving money on postage, but also on paper, so it is a great idea for the environment! They have a new range of Valentine's Day e-Cards with an added twist! They inject a bit of humour into Valentine's Day greetings! They have a cool application where you can upload a photo of yourself and incorporate it into the greetings! I just think it is a great way to make Valentine's Day much more light hearted! Just wanted to share my little hints and tips with you all! Have a good Valentine's Day whatever you get up to!
    Nicole.
