Video: How to Spotlight a Frame within a Frame

Today I mix things up with a frame within a frame! Theresa Momber’s beautiful new Framescape-Winter Trees pairs beautifully inside my popular Holiday Frame and Fabulous Frame, in more than one orientation.  Whether you color the whole scene or spotlight a portion like I demonstrate here, the intersecting frames’ borders create all new layouts, full of depth and interest. Please enjoy!

Gina K. Inspiration Hop, Day 2: Half Pint Heroes, Half Pint Heroines, and Xavier Zebra

Good morning! The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to another fabulous blog hop celebrating the new stamp release for December by our illustrator team! We hope to inspire you with some beautiful card projects as you hop along to each of the designer’s blogs! Today, we are featuring the stamp sets Xavier Zebra by Beth Silaika, and Half Pint Heroes and Half Pint Heroines by Claire Brennan. These whimsical stamp sets are just adorable and oh so versatile! Ready for some inspiration?

I've been needing some cute boy and girl stamps and these Half Pint sets by Claire really fill the fill! (Where were they years ago when my kids were younger?! That's okay, still lots of littles in my life...)

William came in while I was coloring this Half Pint Heroes  and asked, "Is that ME?? 'Cause it looks JUST like me!"  Yep, I agree. Love all the different hair options she added in this set, you really can personalize these to be recognizable, even though they are simple enough to also be anyone. Great job, Claire! Tip: Stamp the rocket and sentiment on a rectangle of white, and then cut a curve on each side of the rocket and around the rocket, it's just one piece, easy!  A great way to create a sense of place and "space", hee!  I also used a black marker to color in the holes on the rocket fins instead of cutting and that really create the illusion of black sky behind without cutting! Stars were stamped in GKD White pigment ink, and then filled in with a white gel pen. Cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury White, Black Onyx, and Blue Raspberry.

I made this card for the little girl I read with each week through Education Connection.  I hope she loves it! Only been partnering with her about a month but she is a really special kid!  I love these affirming, storybook-style sentiments in Half Pint Heroines you can piece together to write your own story. Cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury White, Peach Bellini and patterned paper I used to piece her dress and the background is from the Gina K. Fight Like a Girl pack (how apropos!)

And this is so fun, up, up and way!  Cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury White, Wild Dandelion, Cherry Red, and Black Onyx.  Colored with Spectrum Noir markers. I did a little sponging with GKD Ocean Mist for sky around these adorable and versatile clouds. (That bottom corner is super dark and green because I grabbed the wrong dauber at first, doh!!! Make it work...)

And I made this for a little boy I read with, but found out the next day when I showed up for my session with him he moved. :( (It will still get used. Maybe I knew subconsciously he was heading out?! Nah, but I do wish him the best, wherever he went!!!)  I used the cloud from the Half Pint Heroines set: all the sky elements in these two sets play well together. :)

Next up we have Beth Silaika's newest critter set, Xavier Zebra! Bonus critter, toucan and puns!!

When you say it's a little "toucan", you need to have a smaller then usual card, right? :)  (It's just a square 4" card, not too small!)  Image is colored with Spectrum Noir markers and cardstock is Pure Luxury Blue Raspberry, Black Onyx, Cherry Red and White.

I showed this one at the release and it's one of my favorites!  Gotta really be different with a sentiment as special as this one! Xavier is such a swinger!  Not only is he sweet, the leaf and vine elements are super fun for scene building.  Colored with Spectrum Noir markers and a teensy bit of Ocean Mist sponging for sky and to match the Pure Luxury cardstock base.

Gina K. Inspiration Hop, Day 1: Holiday Frame Fillers, Framescape-Winter Trees, and a Video!

Hello and welcome! The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to another fabulous blog hop celebrating the new stamp release for December by our illustrator team! We hope to inspire you with some beautiful card projects as you hop along to each of the designer’s blogs! Today, we are featuring the stamp sets Holiday Frame Fillers, (by moi!) and Framescape- Winter Trees by Theresa Momber. You will be able to create amazing card projects using each individual set or by combining the images and sentiments from multiple sets from this release, so fun and versatile!

Please enjoy the gorgeous inspiration samples from our team and then comment on each blog for your chance to win a $20 Gina K Designs gift certificate! To see who won, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hop.

Ready for some inspiration? Below are a few of the projects I have created for today’s hop. (I used the Holiday Frame in all these samples for Holiday Frame Fillers, because there is SO much you can do with them together, but scroll down to the following post if you want to see some without it.) :)

Here is a video I made using the circle arcs and the two new sequin images.  (Now these are some fillers I will never get enough of! It was hard not to add them to every card I made today, but I resisted, lol!) I also show in the video how to create more than 30 wreaths with the different seasonal arcs in the set!  Here is the link to the pdf and on our StampTV Freebies page.

Isn't this Gold cardstock so pretty? And doesn't the stamped and stamped off Prickly Pear ink look shimmery, too? Love the illusion!

Next, a sample using Holiday Frame Fillers' new banner, dotted arc and scalloped border (don't you love that going all the way around?! Fancy!), plus some bits like the ducky and heart from Fabulous Holiday Fillers to fill in the little flags! And see the tiny triangles in between stamped in Ocean Mist? Just one of the FIVE two step elements in the Holiday Frame Fillers to accent the banner, so fun!

I colored in the Holiday Frame borders with Spectrum Noir markers and pumped up the dots with Caribbean Ocean Nuvo Crystal Drops. Cardstock is Gina K. Pure Luxury Peach Bellini and White.

And here is some Valentine inspiration with the bows, bears and the straight "pinking" border again, from Fabulous Holiday Fillers, to mix with the new pinking arc in the Holiday Frame Fillers so you can go all the way around the belly band! (stamped in GKD Red Hot) Just mask off the sides of the frame before stamping the long straight border. Cardstock is Pure Luxury heavy Base Weight White and I colored with Spectrum Noir markers PP6, BP3, DR2, BG5.

Last, I just had to share a flower wreath, this time with the Holiday Frame portrait style. Pretty self explanatory! I will demo one in a future video. Cardstock in GKD Pure Luxury Wild Wisteria (with coordinating ink for the frame and flowers) and White.  I filled in the flower centers by just dotting in a yellow marker, stamped the leaves in GKD Jelly Bean Green and added some Glass White Nuvo Crystal Drops for a bit of subtle shine and texture.  Greeting and bow are stamped in GKD Black Onyx.

Can you tell how inspired I am by all these coordinating sets? I was going to show a masculine design, but, I gotta save something for later. ;) Speaking of, here comes some masculine with ....

Theresa Momber's first Framescape-Winter Trees ! Well, you know I always love a frame stamp. :) This one won't leave my desk. I added in her mountains, rower and pond, and then sponged in some Fresh Asparagus and Blue Raspberry. I added some simple shadowing to the mountains with a Spectrum Noir IB2 marker. Last add the greeting. Cardstock is Pure Luxury White and Black Onyx.

And here is the one I showed at our release party, frame in a frame!  Oh, snap, they fit! Begin by stamping the Holiday Frame stamp FIRST. (Always stamp bigger to smaller.) Then nest the  Framescape- Winter Trees  frame inside. (You may get a teensy overlap at the edges but this will resolve when color the borders.) I made the square intersections of the frames slightly darker to resemble arts and crafts stained glass. I  thought this scene was perfect for that!  Finally I did some very simple sponging with GKD Ocean Mist and Fresh Asparagus to suggest sky and grass (no masking, the colors blended with the border coloring), and added the deer silhouette and greeting in GKD Black Onyx. Easy peasy!

I have so many ideas and sunrises and sunsets planned for this wonderful new set! More to come! Fantastic frame, Theresa!

Well, well! I guess I have been very busy, busier than I thought, with holiday stuff and didn't blog my last couple videos or about my new set yet, ack!  I have inspiration hop posts all ready to go for next week though, lol!

Here are a few cards I shared with my new Holiday Frame Fillers set last night at the party, I wanted to show some "look ma, no frame!" designs to show you what you can do with all these little bits but no frame.
Sequins galore!!!!

Whimsical framing with the borders to showcase cute little images!

And thankfully, more stock was added to Holiday Frame, so both sets are good to go in the store (for now, anyway, don't wait it you want to start playing right away!) Speaking of play, about to shoot my next video! You are gonna flip when you see ALL the different wreaths you can make, like, mind. Blown!!

Gina K. Designs & CardMaker Blog Hop!

Hello! Today several designers from the Gina K. team are joining up with the Cardmaker Blog Design team to showcase the newest StampTV Kit from Gina K. Designs, Home for the Holidays!  I am excited to participate and eager to see what everyone has done with the fabulous goodies in this kit!
Home for the Holidays StampTV Kit

I made two cards today, both using the kit's "Music Background" stamp and the "Holiday Greenery" set with it s gorgeous trees, elemental winter foliage and greetings!  I stamped my Holiday Frame stamp on each Kraft card base first in Gina K. Fresh Asparagus ink to create the two sketches, and then added the other stamped elements.  Music was reverse masked into the frame with GKD Kraft ink. All other details are stamped in GKD Black Onyx, Faded Brick, and Charcoal Brown.

White gel pen accents for the snow, wreath highlights and drop shadow on the fun hand-lettered sentiments make everything pop!

Love this one especially! (I *might* be persuaded to do a video next week...) ;)

Next stop on the hop is Daniela Dobson! (Full link list is on the Cardmaker Blog)

Thanks for visiting today!

Fun addition, breaking news! After you finish the hop,  Gina K is releasing a brand spanking new Incentive stamp...free with $75 purchase! It's called Handmade Goodness...is a picture of the set:

Hello! I finish this clean and simple design with an amazing product, Nuvo Crystal Dots**, which will give you the look of enamel dots in any size and color, coming soon to ginakdesigns.com! (Now available at Village Paper & Ink) Sentiment is from the new Holly Jolly incentive set, which is free for limited time with a purchase of $75 or more.

Inspiration Hop, Day 3: Ian Moose and Claire's Sets!

Hello, and welcome back to our third day with the Gina K. Designs team inspiring you with another fabulous blog hop! Please enjoy the gorgeous inspiration samples from the team and then comment on each blog for your chance to win a $20 Gina K Designs gift certificate! To see who won, check the Big News Forum at StampTV a few days after the hop.

Today, we are featuring Beth Silaika’s new “Ian Moose” stamp set and Claire Brennan’s new stamp sets: Nordic Winter, Noel, Festive Foliage and Compliments of the Season. Beth’s set, “Ian Moose” is the most adorable moose with cute accompanying images and fun sentiments! Claire’s stamp sets are the best in classic and traditional stamps celebrating this holiday season!

What an adorable little tree in this Ian Moose set! I had fun adding the different bulbs to the curling cord (stamped three times end to end to make a border).  Colored with Spectrum Noir markers. Base is the new Pure Luxury Wild Dandelion.  Beautiful script sentiment is from Claire's Compliments of the Season.
And isn't Ian adorable with his little scarf? I stamped him into the Holiday Frame Window and then colored him and the different borders in the frame with Spectrum Noir markers.  I reverse masked the little holly image into the outside portions of the frame in GKD Grass Green and then did the same with the snowflake in GKD Red Velvet into the belly band area.

Next up, Compliments of the Season! I LOVE the beautiful little snowflakes Claire added to this greeting set for even more versatility! Here is a clean and simple design you can create without using any other sets.  The flakes are stamped in GKD Powder Blue, Ocean Mist, and Edible Eggplant, and then I accented just a few centers with adhesive rhinestones and pearls. It still needed just a little something so I got out my piercing tool and did a little poking around the flakes. I love the look!  I stamped the greeting two tone and traced with a TB2 Spectrum Noir. Easy peasy!  Card base is GKD Pure Luxury Heavy Base Weight White.

This is the first card I made when all my new supplies came, and one of my faves I've made so far from the release!  I stamped the ginormous greeting from Noel into the Holiday Frame's circle, and went to town reverse masking three of the different borders from Nordic Winter into the open areas to make my own custom stitched design. Love! Frame is stamped in GKD Dark Chocolate and Nordic Winter elements in GKD Cherry Red and Christmas Pine.  I used a Spectrum Noir CG2 marker around the borders (that is unfortunately now running a bit low form all the leaves I do, so it's a bit blotchy here, I apologize) plus a bit of DR3 red to accent the centers. ( I came back from Village Paper & Ink with a *new* product that would have looked great on this but that will have to wait for later!) This card came together so quickly but I'm sure you'll agree it's a lot of look!

Last I have a simple single layer card with some direct to stamp inking with my GKD Dark Chocolate, Grass Green and Fresh Asparagus pads using the Festive Foliage set, and a greeting from Compliments of the Season.  Love this pine cones and needles! I smudged some white pigment ink on the Kraft base, and brushed a little Wink of Stella clear glitter on the cones.
