You should be coming from LISA'S blog!

First up, I have some cards with Whimsical Wildflower Frame. There are many ways to use these borders from Hannah's set, but I wanted to use one on each card, in both portrait and landscape layout, to showcase these long greetings.  I chose a different new stencil for each that work well with the style of illustration.  I selected the GKD Stormy Sky ink to go with the "difficulty" greeting (and pink coloring and cardstock so that it's "coming up roses") masking off the center with Purple Tape before blending the inks over the stencil. All my blending is done with the Life Changing Brushes. All brush sets can be found in that link, choose the best assortment for you. :)

For this next card I stamped the other border twice near the top in GKD Jet Black Amalgam ink to make a space for the greeting and then blended some GKD Lucky Clover over the Leafy Stencil very softly to complement the foliage. Don't underestimate the impact you can make from just the teeniest bit of stenciling, it does not always have to be solid, use multiple colors, or cover the entire mat to stand out! So many looks! I kept the coloring very simple as well. Cardstock is GKD white and Peach Bellini.

Next up, we have the Ocean Minded card kit.  I shared some elements from it in yesterday's hop if you missed it, but today I am focusing on the main stamp set. I used Gina K. Embossing and Watermark ink and Gina K. Clear embossing powder for the wave border and heated. (If you aren't using a white paper, use a white detail powder instead to create the foam, clear works here because of the white mat I started with.  Next time I'm going to try it with Gina's Puffy!! Extra foam! If you use a white, you can emboss after your sponging, but this was a resist technique) Then I blended in some GKD Sandy Beach and Sea Glass ink to create shore and water. Greeting and drawn heart are stamped in GKD Kraft and starfish in GKD Warm Cocoa.

On the second card I did the same, but created a diagonal background with the wave border for two sets of prints to follow along: one human, and one with paws! I offset the greeting with GKD Chocolate Truffle ink to help it pop more and work as a sentiment, rather than something that looked like it was literally written in the sand like the card above.

Inspiration Hop, Day 1: Timeless Beauty and Have Faith

Hello, and welcome to our first day of inspiration hops for the newly released stamp sets and supplies from Gina K. Designs!  We are giving away a $50 gift certificate each day, all you have to do is leave comments on the blog as you hop through, the more comments you leave the more chances you have to win! Winner announced on Gina's blog June 14th.

You should be coming from LISA'S blog!

First up, we have Alicia's Timeless Beauty set. The new stencils Mermaid Scales and Leafy remind me of some of my favorite textile patterns, so I decided to use two on this card, blending GKD Blue Denim and Powder Blue inks over the scalloped Mermaid Scale stencil on a piece of white cardstock, next removing the stencil and stamping the image of the woman over the sponging in black, and then cutting it out to paper piece on top of the second stamped image on my card base.  For the background I used the same inks over the Leafy texture stencil.  I love how using both a light and heavier touch on the card makes such bold and yet ethereal impact with the contrast.  Lady is colored with Spectrum Noir markers. Top layers of the scarf are popped up with foam squares. I used one of the Life Changing Brushes for all of my blending.

For the next card, I used two generations of GKD Faded Brick and Red Velvet inks with the lip print to make this fun collage background, then colored the tube to match my favorite L'oreal tubes (or Yves St. Lauren if I can afford it! I wish!) with Spectrum Noir markers.  I thought it would be sassy to add the heart image from the new Ocean Minded stamp set from the new card kit in Red Velvet ink like it was drawn on a mirror in lipstick, and the tiny greetings fit inside the envelope so I stamped and cut one out and popped it up to add dimension. Cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury Prickly Pear, Black Onyx and White.

Next up we have Emily's Have Faith set, and the greetings are so encouraging and work for many situations.  I first blended GKD Passion Pink and Stormy Sky on white over the new Art Deco stencil, removed the stencil and then stamped the sentiment in Jet Black Amalgam.  To make the greeting stand out more, and look like a sun rising triumphantly, I used the circle from the Sunshine stencil (in the Ocean Minded card kit , see photo above) to mask the middle and create rays above and below with the same ink colors and Sunshine Stencil and Life Changing Brush.  These stencils are really fun to layer and make new combinations!

On this next card, I gently blended some GKD Wild Dandelion ink over the Sun Spots stencil from the new Ocean Minded Card Kit like warm sunshine, and then stamped the sentiment in Jet Black Amalgam.  Cardstock is Wild Dandelion. How simple but effective.
