Inspiration, Day 1: This Girl Is and Unicorn Wishes

Good morning! Welcome to Day 1 of our Inspiration Hop! Today we are showcasing This Girl is and Unicorn Wishes.  Enjoy the cards and ideas from our design team and be sure to leave comments along the way-each one will give you a chance at wining a prize! Starting out with This Girl is! I'd like to say a little about what this hands raised, eyes closed posture represents to me, and what I was thinking about when I drew it. This girl is at peace.  This girl has hands open, letting go of what's behind, and open and ready to receive good things and challenges ahead. An open hand reflects an open heart. She's being still. She's focused on what's true, and listening to an inner voice, instead of the noise and distractions of the world that can often overwhelm us or make us doubt. If you are a believer, you may recognize this as surrender and giving honor. If you are a seeker, you may recognize a desire and longing for freedom of burdens that weigh you down. If you've overcome something big, you may see this girl stands in victory. This woman, no matter her age, is enjoying the breeze and the carefree innocence, energy, and health of her youth. This girl is FREE. (What this means to ME anyway! Plus all the other words in the set) ;)

Here I gave her hair a little "trim" (by just masking off the image or cutting off the stamped hair and popping it up!)  Nice little summer cut, lol! I had a couple different ladies in mind as I colored the hair, one in her 40's and the other in her late 60's, who both really rock their silvery locks!  (I hope mine turns out as nice one day*) I used this embossing folder to create rays of light, which I sponged darker yellowink onto the Pure Luxury Wild Dandelion cardstock. and made a fun, dimensional banner with the words.  Did you notice her necklace?? Yep, you can add ANY small image from this stamp set (or another set) like a charm to either girl's necklace, and this cross is from the coordinating Women of Faith set! Love it!

Here is an example with NO girl, using just the words. I used ink cubes and a MISTI on both cards, the difference being I added some of the little doodly images from the set to the one on the right as accents!  I love both looks! I'll show this in a video. After coloring, add just a few tiny black dots around each with a fine line pen, gives it a little extra personality. :) I plan to do to recreate this on some larger mats to put in frames as wall art and gifts. I used this same configuration of words in the MISTI to create this watercolor background as well!

Now I have to tell you I didn't realize until I received the stamps how it looked like she was full stretched out swinging, with the sky behind her! 

 The seat of the swing is soooo easy to add, and I just pierced holes on either side of her dress and strung some jute through.  I'll definitely show you how to make this! 

And see the little flower I added to her hair? You can create garlands from the 10 flower images in this set to hold in either figure's hands or crowns of blossoms to wear. Love that sweet, romantic, flirty touch! It's the little things!  Cardstock is Pure Luxury White, Sea Glass and Kraft.

On this girl, I paperpieced with the GKD Pink Passion cardstock and stamped a flower from the set on her shirt. I love stamping stuff on her shirt because I sooo miss my Little Tees set! I colored in the center with a white gel pen, then just free cut a large heart from the same cardstock for my stamped birthday greeting. 

Adhere to a piece of contrasting paper like Black Onyx and then cut a border approx 1/8-1/4" inch all the way around.  Check the heart as you go to fit in between her hands.  I love cutting out hearts, but have a ton of dies this would work with an look forward to trying them out! You can also stamp just the hands so you know how much space you have in between, or lay your dies down over the image sheet to see what will fit.  Something that's a teensy too narrow can be matted to add extra width and stretch across. Card base is Kraft.

I hope you love this set as much as I do! Stay tuned for more ideas with the smaller images and words. I have another sample tomorrow with our new incentive set! Also, wait for it...Bible journaling! This girl is taking the plunge!

Next up we have Beth Silaika's Unicorn Wishes. This set is darling and magical! Plus lots of fun sentiments.

After stamping the little unicorn in Jet Black Amalgam ink, I drew a big cloud around him with enough room for one of the sentiment. I colored and shadowed everything with my Copics and then cut it out.  I used a piece of watercolor paper for the background, stamped on a few clouds and stars, then swirled on some Peerless Watercolor blues with a water brush. Base and mat are GKD Pure Luxury Black Onyx and Tranquil Teal.

Unicorn Wishes

Having a few blogger issues today where I can't get all the fonts the same and same size! Sorry if that is distracting! My old computer crashed recently and I got a new one with a new photo editing programming that is my different from what I had previously, so  if the photos look a bit different than usual I ask for your patience while I adjust to that, too.

* William said about the little grays around my hairline recently, "I love your little white hairs, Mom. They'll be as pretty as Miss Mary's! (Who is my mother in law, and she has been rockin' the *most*  beautiful white hair, for the 20 years I've known her, in her 80's now!) So clearly, not all men think we need to color! :)

How about that party last night! Hope you got lots of great ideas from our designers and had fun getting your shop on! Again, I hated to miss a minute, but I know I'll have some fun stories to share and will get caught up with teaching about this set in the next few videos!

Tonight the night! Video: Introducing This Girl Is

Hey, everyone! The release is almost here!  Have a video for you early, because I am headed out of town for an adventure with my 13 year old son!  Sorry to be missing the party, but this camp was planned and paid for before Gina picked the date! I know you'll have a wonderful time in the StampTV forum on Thursday, with the rest of our designers and Gina, and Theresa will be sharing some cards I've made with my set in our release chat thread! The following week, we will be doing a 2nd dose of inspiration in our inspiration hops on Monday and Tuesday!  

Today, I created a quick video for you before leaving to show you a peek of his fun new set!  It has the beauty and theme of my previous and coordinating Women of Faith set, but with more whimsy.  I am having a ball creating with it and I know you will, too! Lots of really cool, out of the box ideas with this in videos in the weeks to come! Enjoy this first of many!

Foil-Mates Summer Release

Good morning and welcome to a fancy summertime hop! Thank you for hopping with the Gina K. Designs team today as we share new Foil-Mates products and inspiration for Gina's new release plus other great products in the store! As usual, we have fun prizes!  The prizes will be THREE $50 gift certificates chosen from all the comments on the blog hop, one per winner. Gina will choose the three winners and announce them on her blog on the original post from today on Thursday morning.  Good luck!  

We got 4 new sets of Foil-Mates tags and greetings to play around with, so I made three cards today.  I mixed in some previous background packs and foils to make these cards.  The tags are so fun for adding stamped images and sentiments!

This sentiment fit so nicely in the Fabulous Label die, so I decided to cut it out after foiling it with Turquoise Sea Fancy Foil and then stamp in some of my Fabulous Holiday Fillers. The belly band ends are Bubblegum Pink and the little star (to match the foiled sentiment) is GKD Turquoise Sea ink to match my foiling.  

I put this over a polka dot foiled background from the Polka Party Foil-Mate pack (foiled with Silver Sequins Fancy Foil) and stamped in those stars from the Fillers set to make the pattern more coordinated and even fancier!  Base is Turquoise Sea.

I used the Labels Borders Foil Mates set and coordinating Decorative Label dies with the Grass Green Fancy Foil to make two gorgeous borders for my Stately Flowers 1 poppy and sentiment. 

I colored the flower with Spectrum Noir markers (CG3, CG4, JG6, FL1, CR11, DR4) and stamped the mat in GKD Coral Reef ink with the Rose Lace rubber background. Card base is GKD Pure Luxury Coral Reef.

Finally, I made this fun Life is Better card using one of the new Better with You Foil-Mates sentiments, a medium size label and matching die from Label Borders and another Polka Party Foil- Mate background.  I foiled these three Foil Mates elements with Passionate Pink Fancy Foil for the sentiment and Wild Dandelion  Fancy Foil (such a  pretty gold!) for the label and dots.  

If you don't recognize the label border now, I snipped the die cut in half to make it longer and accent my die cut oval (also from Fabulous Labels) Finally I embossed some leaves and a daisy in gold embossing powder from A Year of Flowers 2 stamp set on GKD Passionate Pink and Lucky Clover Pure Luxury cardstock, and then cut them out with the coordinating dies.  This card makes me so happy!

Have a fabulous and fancy (foil) day!

May Release Blog Hop: Women of Faith and Anemone Wishes

Hello, everyone! Welcome to day 1 of our May Gina K. Designs blog hop! Today we are showcasing two sets: Women of Faith by me and Anemone Wishes by Emily Schroepfer.  After enjoying each visit on our design team hop, be sure to comment on each blog because we are giving away a $25 gift certificate to the Gina K. This is the card I made for Mother's Day!  I didn't get a chance to post it over the weekend because my mom was in a town for a visit. I also wanted to show this silhouette can be used with the hands if you mask, omit or trim them off. Here is one I made with a sentiment from Emily Schropefer's Lettered and Lovely.   All these girly greetings and the themes behind them are perfect to go with this bold Woman! :)  The stamping is the GKD Jet Black Amalgam and background was made with Distress Oxide inks again with the smackin' acetate technique like I did in my first video for the set, but I didn't get a chance to share the inspiration behind the ethereal background... 

For me it represents the transformative power of prayer. A quick tip I have that has really changed my prayers and prayer life if you have a moment? (If not, scroll to next card!)  We were told in a study not to "worry our prayers". This was a wake up for me how often I do this: present my requests and concerns but am still left feeling anxious because I got distracted or moved on before I had a chance to claim God's promises and allow him to still my heart and align my will with HIS will.  That is the point where fear becomes freedom and we can receive His peace, that whatever the answer is, we are covered.  God's got this! It's so vital we don't finish that conversation too soon!  Okay, next card, it was just on my spirit to confess that, I hope it helps someone this morning...

I had to share a sample with my Hands, Head and Heart quote! 

I love all these ideas I've been hearing from you since Thursday for this sentiment in your cardmaking and crafting! Here I did some no line coloring and colored with alcohol markers. I gave one marker a couple hard taps to create the little peach spatter on the mat and LOVE how it looks like pollen coming off!

Cardstock is White, Black Onyx and Peach Bellini.

I also enjoy "dressing up" this silhouette with other stamped images!  Here I stamped my girl in GKD Kraft and used the branch and bold flower in Lisa Hetrick's Hello Beautiful set, in GKD Jet Black and Lipstick.  I added her gorgeous hello greeting and a few dots with a pen to the flower centers to pick up the black.  Cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury White.

Finally, I love this dahlia image in the set, for when you really just want flowers and not a lady!  Coincidentally, these little pom pom blossoms are so fluffy and *just* about the exact size and shape of a jumbo sponge dauber!  Oh yeah, just ink it up and smoosh it down once, done and done! I used the new Plum Punch, Sea Glass and Tangerine Twist. Greeting is from the new Incentive set Wealth of Wishes, free with any purchase of $75 or more before shipping!  

These long greetings and fonts go great with all these images! And flowers always need butterflies, don't forget that!

Another with a sentiment from Emily Schropefer's Lettered and Lovely.  Ink and cardstock is GKD Ocean Mist. Patterned paper is from the GKD Bold and Blooming pack.

Here is a card using the Wreath Builder template and smaller images like the cross and heart.  Colors are Plum Punch and Lovely Lavender. I love this sentiment's gentle, encouraging reminder...

I have to say, I was feeling the love like never before in a release after sharing my Women of Faith set!  My facebook and phone blew up that night with thanks and congrats, I felt so loved and humbled. The set and people who inspired it are so dear to me and I am grateful and blessed you are connecting with it in the same way!  So this last one I'm sharing is "me," being thankful for for all of YOU! (Yes, I will definitely do a video of how to add the details to the face and hair)

I will be sharing a tips sheet on my blog with ideas for these images along with greeting combinations, I came up with about forty or fifty the other day!  I'll share the tip sheet on a day we aren't all hopping, so be sure to find your way back to my blog for that soon! :)

It's almost here! Oh, how I've waited and waited to release this set!  So many ladies, life events and answered prayers that inspired me to create it, and so much to share with the many images and greetings included!  You are going to love this one!

New 2018 Color Chart pdf, Free Download!

 Hey everyone! Here is a chart I made for myself with the new Gina K. Designs inks and I wanted to share it with all of you!  It includes two extra rows for stamping off versions of each ink so you can see how many additional shades each will give you.  The pdf chart for you to print out (I added a title after taking this photo) is linked here.  The extra spaces can be filled with other pads you have Distress Oxide ink, or perhaps you'd like to leave them open, wishin' and a hopin', for more colors soon! :)

To fill in my chart, I used the large butterfly image from Triple Play Frame for full strength version and the polka dot heart from my coordinating Triple Play Fillers for the stamped off versions.  If you missed it, here is the pdf of the chart with all Gina's previous colors before these newest additions.  (Here is the video I did, giveaway is over, though!) I used the tiny butterfly on the other chart to match, but it wasn't on the sheet when I made the new one, and I didn't feel like looking for it, had to test drive those new gorgeous colors stat!  It IS around here somewhere, case in point, I found the "YOU" stamp* from Fabulous Rose Frame set yesterday under the blanket in the box my cat likes to sleep in on my desk by the window! (So it's good to shake the hair out once in awhile, you never know what you'll find!)

Gina K. Designs 2018 New Colors Release!

Hello!  We have a *virtual rainbow* of new ink and cardstock colors at Gina K. Designs, just in time for spring and beyond, oh, how I love them! Aren't these glorious?!  The team is sharing some color inspiration in today's hop, and we are also giving away a $25 gift certificate to the store, winner announced Friday on StampTV!  Comment on the hop blogs today to enter, the more comments you leave, the more chances you receive! :)

I got so much wonderful feedback from you all after posting my video last week with Fabulous Flowers (almost sold out, but we can order more!), so I wanted to get out the coordinating sets A Year of Flowers 2 and Pressed Flowers 2 to test drive the new hot colors on these year round bold florals and their line art 2 steps!  After stamping out several flowers and leaves in a variety of colors and combinations, I die cut them with the A Year of Flowers 2/Pressed Flowers 2 die set (the one die set cuts both sets of stamps) and laid them out in some different ways to make three designs for today. 


Stamped in Sea Glass, Tranquil Teal, Tangerine Twist, Key Lime, Lucky Clover, and Coral Reef shown, with their coordinating cardstocks. I used the new Slate ink to stamp the line art over the bold leaf images, for a pop a little more subtle than black but more defined than tone on tone, which I did with the flowers stamping bold in Sea Glass and Tangerine Twist, and line art with Tranquil teal and Coral Reef on top.  There are so many ways to mix these sets and colors!  Notice, too, the variation of green on the leaves! They are inked in Key Lime and rolled in Lucky Clover, the two blend so beautifully! Sentiment stamped in Amalgam.

Now I was going to do a video for this hop, but my kids have been passing around stomach virus cooties since last FRIDAY (yes, right after my birthday, I sure appreciated that!) so between laundry (oh, so much laundry) and holding hands, and taking temps, and mopping brows, I have samples only for now, but I have a tip I want to share until I get one done! When you get your new colors, cut an A2 sized card or card front with *each* color and then instead of making cards with them (for now), keep them in a pile you can use to check which color will give you the most pop or subtle effect you are going for. Sometimes I spend more times choosing these final colors than I do the actual stamping!  And, sometimes "your final answer" might surprise you because the combination of colors reflect a little differently off one another, no matter how good you are at visualizing! This works so much better (for me) than holding it up against a sample or a full sheet of cardstock. I intentionally haven't committed to a particular card base for each of the above (and may still add mats behind the focal points), because I want to know, which do you think you'd like best?


I also made up a new color chart with full strength (butterfly from Triple Play Frame) and stamped off versions (heart from Triple Play Fillers) of the 10 new inks, (8 new colors, plus Sandy Beach which coordinates with our current cardstock offerings), and the new "Amalgam", a fabulous black all purpose detail ink!  I'll be demoing some coloring and other techniques with this versatile ink in upcoming videos, so stay tuned!

Check out the collection below! Coal Reef, Tangerine Twist, Key Lime, Lucky Clover, Sea Glass, Tranquil Teal, Plum Punch, and Slate! A really gorgeous, saturated full spectrum that is great for starting or expanding your collection! I love how they look together and am eager to mix them with our current offerings for new and fresh palettes!

I'd play favorites buuuut I know you'll probably end up collecting them all. ;) My favorites are the Tranquil Teal and Plum Punch, because teal and plum are two of my favorite colors regardless, and because they are so unlike any other colors we currently have and I have been waiting literally years and YEARS for colors like these!  I'm also freaking out to have some new greens, which are so bright and fun and will be so fabulous for LEAVES! Finally, the Sandy Beach and Slate are the most gorgeous neutrals, I will be using these ALL. THE TIME.  I'll also show in my video comparisons with existing cardstock so you can see the differences more clearly.  Looking forward to sharing!

Shake, Tap, Drop! Sponged Embossing

Hello! Today I am demonstrating a simple design that pops with all my Stately Flowers! Grab your embossing powder for this fun “sponged gold” technique using your daubers!  I promise you’ll look at your powders in a whole new way after this for adding artistic, one-of-a-kind elements to your cards!  Today I am using the Mock Orange from Stately Flowers 11. My inspiration for today's card was the gold and turquoise packaging I saw for a bottle of perfume at Ross! Inspiration is everywhere if you get out and look! Please enjoy!

Stamp-n-Foil Hop!

Good morning, everyone!  Welcome to our Stamp-n-Foil Hop with the Gina K. Designs team! The new colors, patterns, and collections of stamps, dies and detail sheets are unbelievably fabulous! Here is one with the Time to Celebrate collection! The stamped and foiled two step pieces for festive cakes, balloons and gift boxes are SO fun!! 

  

The details here are all foiled with Gold Sequins Fancy Foil. I recommend die cutting the cake and gift images first before stamping just so you see where to place the bold stamp, it's a little different than stamping inside the balloon outline for example, which makes the exact placement more obvious. I was a little off I realized when I die cut them after stamping, because I hadn't seen them layered before.  (Used them anyway, it's all good!) Cardstock is Ocean Mist to match the stamped cake and balloon, part of greeting and remaining balloon are stamped in GKD Bubblegum to match the foiled, patterned Bold Backdrops (the new Bubblegum Fancy Foil!), I LOVE these big dots!

When I ran the details page through my laminator for this next card, I gasped at how gorgeous these floral elements from the Where Flowers Bloom Collection were when they came out the other side! Like, the way you gasp the first time you see metallic embossing, but so. Much. Better!

 I used the Sparkling Silver Fancy Foil for the outlines (after I stamped my bold colored images on the detail sheets, per the instructions on pack), and the shimmery outlines look ULTRA luxe!! Flowers are stamped in Bubblegum, Blue Raspberry with Blue Denim on the centers, and Peach Bellini with red Hot for the two step.


For my Butterfly Kisses card, I foiled all the butterflies with Gold Sequins after I did my stamping (these butterflies are GKD Wild Dandelion to match the Pure Luxury card base). I used a patterned piece from the new Foil Mate Vibrant Vines pack to make a border (foiled with Grass Green Fancy Foil)  Aren't these butterflies so pretty cut with the matching dies?  Last I added a few Nuvo Drops in Ebony Black and Dandelion Yellow around the stamped sentiment.

Finally, because I already had the pieces foiled and cut (and where flowers bloom, so do butterflies!), I made a 4th card to show how nicely the flower and butterfly collections coordinate. 

Where Flowers Bloom detail sheet was foiled with Sparkling Silver Fancy Foil.  Cardstock is Peach Bellini, Black Onyx and White. Stamping for flowers and leaves was done in GKD Peach Bellini, Red Hot, and Jellybean Green.  Butterfly is foiled in the Gold Sequins Fancy Foil and stamped with GKD Jellybean Green to match the stamped leaves.
