Email me your snail mail addy Giovana and I'll get the set to you!
Everyone else, thanks so much for sharing your special sports moments me, they had me laughing and crying! :)

One of the first images I drew for the "School, Sports, Spirit!" set was this letter jacket, so "the guy could get the girl", so to speak (cheer outfit from "Sporty Accessories"!) I think this little couple (cut to fit so they're holding hands inside his pocket, see??), would be so adorable for sweethearts, anniversaries, Valentines, etc. The color scheme I chose for today is a nod to "High School Musical", hee hee! (but also happens to be one of my fave combos: red, white and black!) I stamped the little "yeah!" on the outfit and MVP on the jacket, these little words in the set are so fun adding to the different strategic spots on all the sports gear LOL! The striped twill ribbon on the clip is the perfect print and texture to match the sporty stripes on the uniform and stretch cuffs on the jacket. I went the whole school theme and hand wrote "Will you go with me?" on the Gina K Pure Luxury White I'd spiral punched, base is Black Onyx to look like a clipboard.
On the inside I used the rectangle part from the backboard image in the set (see it in full in the next sample) to create just ONE "check this box option": "Yes!!" :) I added the new little "CONGRATS!" greeting from this set on a red pennant (from "Sporty Accessories") at the bottom. (DH and I are celebrating 10 years next week BTW) :)

Next is a card made with the set and the basketball from "Sporty Accessories". I made a little dotted line toward the popped up call to add some motion and Cuttlebugged the Tiny Bubbles background onto Pumpkin Spice Pure Luxury, perfect color for a basketball! The scoring at the top and bottom bring attention to the additional greeting and make it "extra sporty"! :) The popped up backboard above the mat adds the illusion of some height to the hoop. Nail heads add a little man bling to this card.

I've said before I'm not really all that sporty myself (although I am really good at the basketball challenge at Chuck E Cheese!), but sports analogies are great analogies for life, so I find myself using thse different sports stamps to make cards for people or kids even if they don't play that particular sport, it is a fun way to say "Go for it!", "You're a star!" or "Just do it!" and everybody gets the message... :)

Would you like to win this set? Tell me about a great "sports" moment for you: maybe it was finishing a cure walk, from high school glory days, one of your family member's victories, watching a historic sports event, or just beating your high score at skeeball! I will post a winner tomorrow night!

Now hop over to my guest designer Melissa Shultz's blog for a special card she'll be sharing with us tonight.
I have also asked a few members from StampTV to join us in showcasing the new set, so please check out her friends' blogs here:

Then, stop by these GinaK Design Team Members' blogs participating in Melanie's blog hop tonight:

  1. The first great sports moment that comes to mind was watching a classmate who qualified for special education services on multiple levels finish his first (and then every one after)race. He was not fast by any stretch of the imagination, but he was well liked. The whole junior high track team who wasn't in competition at the time would gather at the finish line to congratulate him. It was a very equalizing and compassionate time in my education.

  2. Melanie, Both cards are awesome! I especially love that letter jacket/cheerleader card...such a neat idea to pair them up!

  3. Years ago I played on a co-ed soft ball team. I was playing out field. The opposing team hit a ball that seemed to go a mile high. Everyone knew it was not going to be caught by a middle aged women. Well, I was confident I could catch it and I did. It was the highlight of the game. Made me feel pretty good.

  4. These just made me smile. Such a sweet time in life! My favorite sports moment...hmmm. I pitched for our high school baseball team (we didn't have a girls team). I loved it! But my most memorable moments have been working with Special Olympics athletes.

  7. Love these cards Melanie!!! A sporty moment for me...Uummm, not a good thing. Sports and I just don't mix. My husband still laughs about the time back in 1998 when I went out to play softball with the adults from church and didn't have a glove. Someone asked if I was left or right handed and I said, "Oh, it doesn't matter...." Basically, I am inept with both and could use either with the same outcome...just bad!!! :o) I am a great observer though and LOVE watching my kids play....just don't feel the desire to play myself, LOL!

I would love to win this set and would give it a loving home with my other matching sets ;oP Thanks Mel!!!

  10. I like your new set. Great idea to team up the jacket and cheerleader! Great sports moments? I was the least athletic person I knew, until I discovered tennis. Now I love to play. One awesome moment was playing tennis on some clay courts at the edge of a forest. A white tailed deer would come out and watch us play! Honest, she would watch the ball go back and forth over the net. She would stay for 5 min or so. It really was an amazing thing to see.

  11. It should probably come as no surprise to me, but you come up with the CLEVER-EST creations with your sets! This card is TOO CUTE!!

My oldest son just started playing some rookie soccer and t-ball... Favorite memories, hands down. :)

  16. Excellent cards Mel!!!!
I have lots of great sporting memories!!! All 3 of my boys played football, loved watching the games. Loved it even more when I would work the chains and would have the birds eye view!!!

  17. Love the card!! My sporting highlight was when my hockey team lost by 5 goals - and my father told me that if it was not for my efforts as goalie, they would have lost by a lot more :-) Gotta love fathers!!

  20. Love this set, love the card.

My best sports memory...when I had to fill in for an injured gymnast in Provincials (Cdn equivalent of States) in vault - an event which terrified me! Don't know if it was the sheer fear that propelled me, but I won a silver medal, LOL!

(this is an edit to a previous post (where I said I loved the car and not the CARD), not a blatant attempt to enter twice, sorry). It's well past my bedtime!

  21. Oh, Melanie, great sports moments come when my precious grandchildren do well. I have a grandson in basketball, t-ball and soccer and a granddaughter (Senior) who is big into softball. Their games are always big family times. This would be a perfect set all year to help them celebrate some of those big moments.

  22. My comment about sports stories is how as a mum I still feel like I need to be at my sons games when he plays in a community basketball series even though he is soon going to be 40 because I still enjoy watching him play. Love your cards and the stamps.

  23. Great sport moments. Well when I played basketball in elementary school I threw a free throw. It skimmed the bottom of the net so the coach told me to throw harder. I did alright, hard enough to get the ball stuck in the backboard. Everyone was laughing so hard including me I had to walk off the court. They had to get a ladder out to get it down. LOL

Love the cute idea of your HSM card.

Thank you for a chance to win.

  24. I love the Letterman jacket! Since I'm only 5'2", I was good at most sports, but too short to be outstanding. So my pride was with my son when he and his varsity football team won all-city & went to State. Also when the Seahawks went to the Superbowl in 2005. Unfortunately, neither my son's team or the Seahawks won:( But they were still GREAT moments, regardless.

  25. The most loving moment I have seen in sports was yesterday on the news. A man caught a foul ball at the ballgame and turned around and gave it to his daughter who was about 3-4 years old. She then turned around and with inocence threw the ball back on the field. The father was startled for a moment and then turned and took his daughter in his arms and with a big smile on his face gave her a hug and kiss.

  27. I really never had the opportunity to play sports in High School, but I think a great moment was when my boys played football. They are from a very small school, and no one thought that team would have a winning season. No only did they win 9 our of 10 regular games, they went on to play for the state title. Quite an accomplishment when my son was one of the largest members at 180 pounds. It was quite a ride.

  28. My greatest sports moment was winning the Keene city women's singles tennis tournament and having my dad and step mom in the crowd watching!

  29. I don't play, but my husband and I are HUGE Flyers Fans. We have season tickets and with playoffs that is a lot of games each season. There have been so many memories from the games - pucks we caught, players who wave, people we get to know from being near them so often...but my favorite ties in to your cards!

On October 30, 1999 my husband proposed to me at the game.

We no longer sit in the same seats - but every game I look over to our old section and smile. It has become a little reminder of "where we started."

  30. I was never a sports person growing up. I was in the marching band though, and we played and cheered for the football team. I love this set though. Thanks

  31. I myself haven't really had a great sport moment but maybe my kids will make up for that. I did go to one GreenBay Packer game once!

  32. Mel,

Having two boys you probably can appreciate these moments.. My youngest son was playing soccer (4 yrs old) and we have a bunch of friends at the game we are watching the ball and loose track of him.. when we look for him a few moments later he is on the opposite side of the field from the action and i see him reaching into his pockets and pull soething white out.. Obivious to the other kids and the game he's stopped midway through to pull out a couple of cookies he's brought for a snack. I go running out on the field to get the napkin and direct him back to the game.. All the while our friends are yelling "illegal mom on the field with cookies" We still talk about that moment today! Awesome cards BTW... I LOVE the cheer uniform, brings back a TON of memories.

  33. The best sports moment I had was when I FINALLY got a basket! I'm very short and it was very hard and I'm not much on athletics either. But I shot from mid court mind you and got that ball right in there. Everyone cheered. I just stood there in unbelief!

  34. I wasn't very sports minded as a kid but both my boys were swimmers in high school. So I actually lived my sports moment through them. My oldest son swam butterfly and his senior year the junior who swam butterfly timed faster than my son. But when it came to swim the last relay, the junior gave up his spot so my son could swim the last relay of his high school career at sectionals. The newspaper published a pic of my son swimming that leg in the relay and I was very proud of him. I love both of the cards. Very cool! Thanks for the chance to win!

  35. Oh my only one great sports moment?! Well....lets see...it would have to be something my brother did, he plays baseball, football and he wrestles...actually, how about last weekend! My brother sacked the QB in the 4th quarter, which lead the ball to be turned over on downs, the next play his team mate ran the ball in for a touchdown, and while we were still winning, it completely shut the other team down. It was great! Woot! Go Vikings! I am loving the hop too! What a great set!

  36. I was not involved in organized sports growing up so my great sports moments are watching my kids--finishing a race, clearing a height with pole vaulting or winning a fencing tournament.

  37. I would love to win this set, thanks for the chance. I have so many great memories from sports, mostly from my son. The one I remember the most, his him walking off the 18th green at the state's in his senior year of high school golf. I love looking at those pictures...

  38. Coming from a sports fanatic family I've seen many great moments, but my son's first basket
made was the best. Kev has autism and motor skills etc. are affected. To see him make that shot brought me to tears. Love this set!

  39. A wonderful blog hop with lots of great samples. My greatest sports moment would have to be my daughter's junior and senior years and she was on the school's varsity poms squad. Both years the squad qualified for state. Going to the state competition and watching my daughter perform is something I will never forget. A very proud moment for me. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome set.

  41. My greatest athletic achievement - my mother still laughs when telling the story. One day after school (I was in the 5th grade), I came running in the door all excited that I was named the champion leg wrestler ... of both the girls AND boys!

  42. Love how this set works with your other sports themed sets, Melanie! I'm no athlete, so my greatest sports moments come from attending some major athletic events with friends and family to cheer on my favorite teams. I've been lucky enough to attend a Rose Bowl, a Super Bowl, the NCAA college hockey finals twice, and see a team win the Stanley Cup.

  43. Awesome cards with fun texture. I was never into sports at all. By High school I wanted to get involved with something and joined track with some friends. Just joining the team was an accomplishment let alone staying on4 years on the team.

  44. Melanie, these are both awesome cards. Love the pairing on the first card and the basketball background on the second card. I don't have a sporting moment to share. I was the one in school always trying to get out of gym class!

  45. Love this stamp set.
I remember how happy I was when the 7th grade girl basketball team I was on beat the 8th grade team. It made the school sit up and take notice of us. Attendance to our games increased after that.

  46. I personally have NO great sports moments -- other than fishing -- does that count? If so, my first great one was on my birthday, I'd been standing in the pouring rain fishing for HOURS when a 6 pound largemouth hit my line. It was my first really big fish and I just know it was a special birthday present. It was such a thrill.

  48. I have always been the spectator - I am a great sideline cheerer and I love watching my kids, in whatever sport it may be - I don't care if they win or lose I just love that they go out and give it their best shot and try their best ....
    Thanks for the fun ....
    love your work!

  50. I have loved watching my kids and grandson in sports. I come from an era when there were no girls sports but my best moment was sliding into base in a church baseball game - face first. Everyone thought I did great - they just didn't know that I turned my ankle and fell into base!

  52. Of course it had to involve my kids. I think watching my son play Pop Warner football through hs football was just awesome. As a parent I never missed a game even if I knew he might be a bench warmer. My favorite thing was seeing my son win the best "sportsman" award--he would be so excited for all his friends who played more regularlly or for even opposing players who had outstanding plays.

  53. I guess my sports highlights would be those heart warming Mommy Moments from when my kids were involved. When my daughter passed her Gold Dance in figure skating and when my son's hockey team won a Provincial Gold medal!

I'm a huge fan of your stamps, but this is one I don't have! TFS!

  59. Well, to be honest, I'm not into sports much, but my family is, and my sports moment was when my oldest son gave his dad a special case to hold a pair of boxing gloves autographed by Muhammad Ali, who my husband had met and interviewed a long time ago!
