Video: Enlarge the Postage Frame to Add Any Flowers or Images!

Hello! Today I am sharing yet another way to use the versatile postage frame in Stately Flowers 11: using the omission technique to ink just the corners to create a new rectangular or square frame of virtually any size for your cards and projects with open spaces to add any flowers or stamped images you want to the opposite corners, creating a new frame of any theme that you like! I also does a little masking to show how you can frame up a single word beautifully within the frame.  Today’s design features simple coloring and blending with Prismas and Gamsol on my mock orange blossoms and butterfly. Be sure to watch to the end to see a square design with this same omission technique!  Please enjoy!

Here is a link for the Prismacolor pencils I used in the video.

Fabulous Flowers Back in Stock!

Good morning!  Stately Flowers 11 is sold out (thank you!) but I am told we should be getting another shipment of them in TOMORROW, huzzah! Just in time for a new video! ( I already made the cards but haven't recorded, you are gonna FLIP when you see this new idea for the postage frame!) I will be watching stock and keep you posted.  But if you read my title, you already know that Fabulous Flowers is back, huzzah!!

I had a request to point to the reference sheet I used in one of my videos to help you in determining which two centers and elements go with each flower. Now I'm always cool with mixing things up if you want to do something different, but if you are looking for that exact match, this is what you use.  Hope this helps!

So, anyway, I will be dreaming up another Fabulous Flowers video for you, hope it inspires!  Coming soon!

Happy Monday!

Video: Faux Postage Technique with Stately Flowers 11

Hello! Thanks for all the wonderful feedback about this card in our hop! In today's video I share how to stamp, mask and sponge the postage border in my new Stately Flowers 11 set to make three smaller frames! This is so versatile for spotlighting smaller images like the butterfly in this set or creating a long scene on your cards, whether you choose a portrait or landscape orientation. This faux postage technique is so versatile for both masculine and shabby chic or vintage designs! Please enjoy! I hope you will subscribe to my channel so you never miss a video, new techniques and stamp sets featured every week!

Note: Oops! I apologize for forgetting to add the drop shadow at the end during the video, I only noticed after photographing the samples something was missing! Please refer to my photo above and just trace the underside of the butterflies and postage border with a gray marker or pencil. You can also a little pop to the black stamped sentiments outlining the left side of each letter with the white gel pen. :)

First, this anchor is such a strong image, and what a wonderful sentiment! After stamping the anchor and sentiment in GKD Navy onto my mat, I cut the image out with the double stitched circle die.  I wrapped some thick hemp twine around the top of the mat and inside of the cut window, and then popped up the circle with foam adhesive, offset slightly up to reveal the navy layer below. Cardstock is GKD pure Luxury Kraft, Navy, and White.  Perfect guy card, and super easy!

For this next card I thought the little outdoor scene was perfect for putting in the postage frame from Stately Flowers 11!  I offset the GKD double stitched rectangle die to leave room inside the postage border for the remainder of the sentiment.  After cutting I stamped in my scene and sentiments.  I used some of my peerless watercolor pages and a water brush to quickly color in the scene.I recessed the die cut but popping up the frame, it's a bit hard to see form the photo, but in hindsight when I make this card again I will adhere the mat to the card and pop up the die cut, but here I was wanted a peek inside rather than it standing out! two different looks! Card base is GKD Pure Luxury Grass Green.
The included cardstock panels and patterned papers in this kit are just gorgeous, but if you don't have a need for the colored ink cubes or adhesive (although you'll need more adhesive at some point, yes?! lol) you can also purchase this set NOW separately. Heads up!

Gina K. Designs –Inspiration Blog Hop: Day 2

Good morning! The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to another fabulous blog hop celebrating the new stamp sets by Gina K and the illustrator team from Gina K Designs! We hope to inspire you with some beautiful card projects as you hop along to each of the designer’s blogs! Today, we are featuring the stamp sets Vicky Mermaid by Beth Silaika, Cottage Garden by Claire Brennan and the Botanical Blocks Incentive set. These stamp sets are so fun and versatile!

Ready for some inspiration? Here are a few of the projects I have created for today’s hop:

I couldn't be more thrilled with how this one turned out, exactly how I imagined after seeing that sentiment, "Inking about you"!! (I guess technically anytime I stamp a card, I really AM inking about the person, lol!) Anyway, I used watercolor paper for this one, but did a lot of sponging first with Ocean Mist and Blue Raspberry at the corners to create a base of color. Next I got the cardstock wet and dropped on some GKD Black Onyx and Blue Lagoon drops using the reinkers.  The smaller drops I just touched the tip of the reinker to the paper.  While the Black onyx was still wet, I smeared it to blend out with a brush, like a cloud of ink dissipating. Finishing touch was a few bubbles with a white gel pen.  Base is GKD Applemint.
So I was looking at my postage stamp border from Stately Flowers 11 again and suddenly l saw waves! I just stamped this repeatedly in Turquoise Sea working my way down, and then sponged in the same ink to fill the water.  These were really fun to color (Spectrum Noir) Finally, stamp just a few bubbles, the greeting and seaweed, also stamped in the Turquoise Sea.
Vicky Mermaid- CLEAR

Next up, we have Claire's gorgeous Cottage Garden set!  it screams fairy tales and storybooks, both dear to my heart!  I kept these very clean, like a book illustration on a white page.
This little gated garden is perfect for some meditative coloring time. I had a wonderful time filling in all the tiny bits, discovering the different flowers, leaves and other special touches.

I shared this one at the party, all the tiny creatures begged me to have them hiding in the trees! I worked biggest to smallest, filling in the little corners with the tiniest last.  Colored with Spectrum Noir.  Just add a shadow to ground the tree.

Cottage Garden- CLEAR

Today we wrap up with the latest incentive set, Botanical Blocks, free with a purchase of $75 or more! (Set will automatically be added to your cart.) These bold nature elements work in so many ways!  I came up with a couple ways to use them with Stately Flowers 11:

Here I inked up just the top and side of one of the blocks with Kraft ink to get that cool distressed and artsy edge, and stamped it 4 times, turning it each time to create this open, square frame, which I then stamped the mock orange flower into.  After coloring, I inked up the same block in black and added under the mat kind of like the swath of a paint brush. Cool way to add texture and interest and have that fun reveal of the tiny flowers inside it. Cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury Kraft, Red Hot and White.
Next, I inked up two of the blocks in Ocean Mist and Jellybean Green to make a color blocked spring day inside my postage frame. Stamping the paintbrush flowers over in GKD Black Onyx with no coloring lets the gorgeous detail of these Botanical Blocks show through. Cardstock is Ocean Mist, Black Onyx, and White.

Gina K. Designs Inspiration Blog Hop: Day 1

Good morning! The Cast and Crew for Gina K Designs welcomes you to another fabulous blog hop celebrating the new stamp sets  from Gina K Designs! We hope to inspire you with some beautiful card projects as you hop along to each of the designer’s blogs! Today, we are featuring the stamp sets Stately Flowers 11 by me and Daisy Delight, by Theresa Momber.

Please also join us in welcoming Juliana Michaels to the Cast & Crew for Gina K Designs. Juliana has been a project designer in the paper craft/scrapbook industry since 2007 and has worked for many top manufacturers in the craft world.  Her projects have been published in a variety of magazines and idea books. You are going to love her style!

Ready for some inspiration? Here are a few of the projects I have created for today’s hop:

Here is just a simple card you can do with any of the Stately Flowers and the postage frame.  I masked off a border inside for sponging (Wild Dandelion) which I will show in an upcoming video.  You can keep this mask and use it again and again to make stamps for every state! I also just traced below the bottom border and BG3 to create a drop shadow, easier than cutting out the frame! love Utah's sego lily!  So elegant, beautiful for weddings, sympathy or anytime, and with its long stem looks lovely with various vertical sentiments.  So many ways to nest the different words around the different flowers within this large frame. Cardstock is Pure Luxury White and Fresh Asparagus.

For this next card, I saw some beautiful versions of this flower in pink, so I made a scene this time overlapping the border to create a kind of "3-up" postage stamp for my scene. The humps in the border are all the same size, so it is pretty easy to stamp over them with your clear stamp to make them line up! (here 9 humps overlap to make the sections. Yep, I'll do a video!)  Again I masked the borders (this time with post it notes) and then did my stamping and sponging. Background is sponged with Applemint and Peach Bellini and I used just a bit of the grass silhouette image from Theresa's Daisy Delight set to add more texture and grass between the flowers.  Cardstock is Pure Luxury White, Edible Eggplant and bubblegum.  Last I popped up the stamped cancelled postmark.

Finally, if you can do a "3-up" , how about a "9- up"?!  This is created the by stamping the frame *four* times, one in each corner, again overlapping the humps (8 at the top and bottom this time) at the top and bottom.  (If you are a hair off, you can touch this up with a white gel pen.) I kept the coloring simple on the mock orange and then made a dimensional butterfly by stamping the butterfly and coloring, cutting out, then flipping over and stamping on the back, a perfect fit!  I used layering weight so my alcohol markers bled through and showed me exactly where I needed to put my colors, already filled it in a bit for me! Fold and pop up with a foam square. Cardstock is GKD Pure Luxury White and Wild Wisteria.  No postage marks this time, as I wanted it to look more like quilting and less like a postage stamp.  I would love to step this card up and do some paper piecing or color blocking in the new squares.

Finally, here is a "no flower" card!  (I could also show a "no postage border" card, but why not when you've got it?!)  This time I stamped overlapped the border on its short side, for three smaller rectangle to showcase images. fits perfectly on A2! I masked off the areas inside each of these with sticky notes and sponged on GKD Kraft ink to match the card base.  That white edge just pops!  You can cut the butterflies out or stamp directly in each box and trace a drop shadow underneath.  Add dots with a white gel pen.
No automatic alt text available.

Please be sure to scroll down to the next posts if you missed my first video with the set or samples I showed at the party. :)

Next up we have Theresa's Daisy Delight, how I love this set!

I love how girly this card is! After stamping the ladybug border and daisy, I colored everything with Spectrum Noir markers, and as a finishing touch added a few of the grass blades in Fresh Asparagus around the flower.  I didn't mask, just used the little rolling tip I showed with a clear stamp in my video a few weeks ago where you press only until you get to the image that would be masked and lift your stamp, easy peasy!  Cardstock is GKD Peach Bellini, Black Onyx and White.

And here is a bit of spotlighting on the ginormous daisy that I shared at our party! You can stamp the daisy or the postage frames first to overlap, either way!  Just color in the center portion.  Effective single layer card! Don't forget the ladybug!! :)
