Men of Faith and More Now Available! Tip Sheet, Part 1!

New stamps now available (you can see them all here in the What's New section) Here is one of the cards I shared last night, using both the new Men of Faith silhouette and words from the set to make my greeting, along with my female silhouette from Women of Faith. This set is truly a must have if you got Women of Faith before, or need a masculine set (because let's face it, our collections are all probably pretty floral/feminine heavy!), and I am so excited not only to use this new silhouette and all the sentiments, but to mix the two together. Because women are courageous, patient, giving, too..!


Today I also wanted to share the first part of my tips for this set.  All of it is too long for one post! And I'm just not ready to call it "done", because there are so many options with this set, times more than 2 if you have the coordinating set! Wanted to share some greeting combinations you can make, but this isn't all! There are about 60 words in this set (give or take, so many I lose track each time I count the plate and doubt myself!).  The should get you started

I wan to point out real quick, though (since I can't wait), that the woman can wear the necklace also!  On her neck or hands, facing right or up.  And the new cross is a two step filler for the cross in Women of Faith if you want to make the cross two tone. :)

Stamp n Foil Holiday Release Blog Hop!

Hello! Thank you for joining the Gina K. Designs team today in a blog hop for the new products Gina is releasing for the holidays with Therm-O Web.  Lots of fun, wintery goodies that almost makes me think it *just might* get cold here again one day!

The first one is a flaky design with the Baby It's Cold Outside collection. The flakes are foiled with Turquoise Sea Fancy Foil, and two step stamped with GKD Plum Punch.  The greeting is stamped in Tranquil Teal (as are the flakes plus a few stamped off in the Plum Punch) on the White mat and then mounted on a coordinating GKD Pure Luxury Tranquil Teal.  The die cut flakes are popped up with foam squares. I love how much interest and dimension you can add when you stack the flakes on top of each other!

For this next card, I used the Holly Jolly collection.  Fun, ornaments and flowers! I did all my foiling first with Turquoise Sea Fancy Foil. Next, I filled in the two step with GKD Red Velvet, Dusty Rose, Lucky Clover and Jellybean inks.  I stamped the greeting in Turqoise Sea and drew on some fake twine to hang my ornament (red pen, then striped with white gel pen) 

I die cut the four pieces and popped these up over the cut and foiled and stamped light bulb border.  Card base is GKD Pure Luxury Red Velvet.

This last card uses Foil-Mates and stamps from *both* the Holly Jolly collection and Baby It's Cold Outside.  I think the flakes and flowers are fun together! and. I stamped up a few flakes and a greeting in GKD Turquoise Sea ink on Pure Luxury Sea Glass and then popped up the die cut and foiled (Turquoise Sea Fancy Foil) flowers and flakes. 

The die cut foiled pieces are two step stamped with GKD Red Velvet, Dusty Rose, Lucky Clover and Jellybean inks.  This is all mounted on GKD Red Velvet and White Pure Luxury.

Hey, did you notice ALL my foiling is Turquoise Sea today?? I can't find all my foils! I have a huge box of the Foil-Mates but could only find two sheets of Fancy Foil (Turquoise Sea, yep)  Anyway, I love turquoise with red, so luckily I was able to make it work!  I know the foil will turn up eventually, the way things always do when I've decided to be more organized and create a new system, which I then forget about, and thus end up hiding things from myself.  You, too?)

Stamptember: Joy of the Season, Now Available!

Hello and welcome to a Gina K. Since it's still over 100 degrees here, I'm not quite ready to make my Christmas cards yet, but as soon as I saw these gorgeous tress I knew I was ready to check some home decor and handmade gifts off my list by making these simple embossed vellum wraps!  They looks so elegant during the day, and look like a miniature sun setting behind the trees when you add a tiny tealight at night!  These are a great way to change out a design on a candle jar to match your season or occasion, just slide it off when you are ready for plain glass or a new theme, and look just like etched glass but without the permanent commitment or hassle of executing that!  I decided to make step out photos this time to show the process.

You'll need a clear jar*, glass or vase with straight sides (straight is important, otherwise it won't lay flat on curved sides and you'll have to do some trimming/monkeying around) , stamp set, Versamark pad, white embossing powder, vellum paper, heat gun, large acrylic block, adhesive tape, and scratch paper for masking.

Tear your scratch paper unevenly to create hills and place over the bottom of your vellum, about 1/2" up.  Smash Versamark pad all over to completely cover this area. Remove paper.

 Pour on embossing powder and heat.

 Stamp trees image all the way across in Versamark, overlapping your embossed snow.

 Add powder and shake off excess. I didn't worry as much about getting every stray bit off, as it will just look like a few flakes coming off the trees!

 Heat. 
Turn vellum sideways and add a length of the tape to on end.
Remove backing from tape and wrap around jar, pressing one end on top of tape in the other end.  Make it tight enough so no wrinkles and doesn't wobble, but loose enough  you can still pull it off later.

 Voila! Looks gorgeous just sitting out, unlit!

But when it IS LIT, it's LIT!!

You can also make a wrap with the snowflakes or other images in the set, but with the light in side the snowy tree scene is my favorite, looks like you could step inside.  I love how the flame crates its own colors as the light diffuses to look just like a morning or evening sky!

 This idea will make great inexpensive gifts, that look so luxe!  So many ways to use pretty jars around the house, too, not just for candles!

*This is a Diamond Candle jar (after I finished the candle and popped out the remaining wax) the vellum is on my craft mat if you can see in the photo, measuring 6 by 10 inches, so the jar is a little taller, but has a wider lip at the bottom. I love the scent of Diamond Candles, and the surprise of the ring. That they come in a pretty jar you can use or upcycle is a bonus. TIP: To remove that last bit of wax, instead of heating and pouring it out, or chipping it out,  put it in the freezer! The wax will pop right out in one piece, no mess, clear jar ready to go!

Inspiration Hop, Day 2: Holiday Builder and Skeleton Leaves

Hello! Welcome back to our August Inspiration hops!  We are giving away a $50 gift certificate again today! This month's new Holiday Wreath Builder set has some really gorgeous elements and greetings in it that inspired me to do something other than a wreath! I love the scalloped circle frame, so I repeated that three times, in GKD Red Velvet and Jellybean Green, then stamped a border (again, three times, starting in the middle and then on either side), and the large snowflakes and greeting in GKD Christmas Pine.  

I added a few swags in the red and green, carefully inking directly to the stamp with the two colors before stamping, and then added the smaller snowflakes in red around the large green ones.  I finished of this single layer card with some Red Berry Nuvo Crystal Drops to accent the flakes and flowers. Envelope is coordinating GKD JellyBean Green.

The Holiday Wreath Builder also works great with my Holiday Frame! I stamped up a festive door (in GKD Slate) with the frame, centering the builder frame inside in Fresh Asparagus, then stamped the holly, pine cones and berries by hand instead of using the MISTI or wreath builder template, just using the stamped ring as my guide (Christmas Pine holly, full strength and then stamped off, Red Velvet and Dark Chocolate) Since I put the greeting in the center of the wreath, I added the snowflake border across the center below just to fill in the white space and add interest, and then added the door handle element from my coordinating Holiday Frame Fillers set and color it in with a lighter gray marker. 

Be sure to do a side fold card so you can open the door! :) Envelope is GKD Slate Gray.  This will look so elegant when I address it with a white gel pen! :)

I used the GKD 2018 Add On Ink Cube collection spots to stamp the leaves (Plum Punch, Coral Reef) plus Fresh Asparagus on white Pure Luxury, and then in Versamark to emboss just a few leaves plus the sentiment with GKD Rose Gold embossing powder.  This mat is layered on GKD Plum Punch and a GKD Sandy Beach Pure Luxury card base. Colored envelope is coordinating GKD Coral Reef.

Inspiration Hop, Day 1: Whimsical Wild Flowers and Thankful and Blessed

Hello! Welcome to the first day of our August Inspiration hop! Today we are showcasing new stamp sets by Hannah Schroepfer and Emily Loggans. I love the sentiments in Emily's new Thankful and Blessed set! It also comes with the wreath swags to perfectly frame each beautiful, handwritten greeting, and I noticed both the sentiments and branches were just right for adding to the circle window in my Holiday Frame! Yay! Love these new options!

After stamping the frame in GKD Dark Chocolate,  I stamped the wreath in GKD Jellybean Green on the edge of the circle. I used a marker to color in the leaves and above and below each swag.  I used the same marker to color in the rest of the frame s borders. Then, after cleaning the greeting stamp really well, and masking off around the frames middle belly band section, I repeatedly inked up just the GOOD from the scripture and stamped it over and over in the same colors to make my own background!  GOOD times 10! Any little open areas I filled in with just a bit from the leafy branch.  I also traced a few choice words from the verse with the green to make them stand out. Envelope is GKD Jellybean Green.

Thankful and Blessed

Next, I have a sample with Hannah's Whimsical Wild Flowers. I stamped the flower element on white cardstock in GKD Jet Black Amalgam, and then colored in the sections of the leaves with different greens to look more like stained glass (you know, since they're "whimsical"?!) I used a few Spectrum Noir alcohol markers to shade the flowers.  I tapped the darker marker a few items to splatter the background and then sponged on a bit of GKD Peach Bellini to match the card base.  I added a GKD Black Onyx mat and stamped the flower one more time onto the base to line up with the uncolored flowers at the bottom left.

Simon Says Stamp

Day 2: Autumn Wreath Builder and Peaceful Roses

I showed at the party I made some cards to bring my This Girl Is girl into fall! You can stamp these small elements in her hand, clothes, or to build wonderful autumn scenes around her. :)

I couldn't decide whether to make the leafy garland going "up" or "down", but did up first. :) Hanging fits nicely, too.

Peaceful Roses has a lovely line art floral image, perfect for coloring, plus pretty sentiments. I stamped on watercolor paper with Jet Black Amalgam ink and used a water brush and Peerless Watercolors to create this look. I thought the background and leaves looked so interesting, I decided to leave the flowers uncolored, except for a tiny drop of red at the centers.  Mat is popped up on foam squares and embellished with the GKD Crystalline Drops to look like water.
