I'm not usually one to make Christmas/Holiday cards 8 months in advance (but maybe I should start!) but I got inspired to try and give this springy wreath from Gina's "Wreath of Wishes" a wintery look with some ball ornaments! I cut out the wine tag image in my "A Charmed life" set (it already has a hanger! :) and colored them with red, green and purple Copics, shading them to look like sphere, darker on the left side and leaving a white highlight top right, and popping them up on the wreath covering the daisies that didn't look so "Christmasy". (also positioning the hangers like they are attached to the vines) Leaving just the little red buds peeping out they look like berries and possibly poinsettias. I stamped the little "Joy" greeting also from "A Charmed Life" in the middle, love how delicate that looks. Base is cut with a scalloped square Nestabilitie (see how to do this in the post) from Gina K Pure Luxury white base weight CS, with a Real Red and some dark green distressed Basic Grey Wassail DP for mats, and SU! moss grosgrain.
I submitted this to PaperCrafts for their last call, but didn't make it! So now I can go ahead and post it, please enjoy!

ReplyDeleteThey would even be a lovely hostess gift for someone at the holidays, even just by changing the sentiment to "Thankyou" in that script.
Thanks for sharing!
Hi Melanie! What a great card. I have both of these sets, so I need to try to play with them and see what I can do. I don't know that I want to start making my cards this early, but I definitely want to start thinking about the type of cards I want to make this year. Thanks for the great idea and for sharing it with us.

Another brilliant idea from Melanie! Love it!
ReplyDeleteNice card...and FANTASTIC coloring! I really thought those colored tags were real tiny ornaments! I keep thinking "If I had copics....". Well done, Girl!
