One of my dearest friends is having her second baby in a few months (a girl this time!) and asked me to create 38 invitations for the shower. I haven't done mass production like this in a long time!Since she had a shower with her first baby, this time she really wanted the theme of the party and the invitation to be less "baby" and more about celebrating girliness and women and being able to have babies!
After seeing her bedding, I loved the sweet butterflies and color blocking, but wanted to make something more elegant and grownup and wanted to use a butterfly that wasn't too realistic, too cartoonish, but still had some whimsy. I remembered this design I did a few months ago with Theresa's "Celebrate the Season" set and decided to adapt it with different pastels.
I couldn't commit to just one palette however and wanted to use a lot of my scraps so I made different combinations of Gina K Pure Luxury Innocent Pink, Bubblegum Pink, Passionate Pink, Lemon Drop, Creme de Menthe, Lovely Lavender and Wild Heather.
Butterflies (111 of them! lol) are colored with Copics and accented with Sakura glitter pens. Adhesive rhinestones add extra sparkle.
Who's ready for Spring??
Have a terrific weekend! Sneak peeks for our Gina K Designs release next Thursday should be starting very soon! Guess what: more flowers, but not "Stately"! :)

ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous Melanie. Make sure you make an extra for your friend to frame for the babies room.
ReplyDeleteI just did invites for my daughters best friend who is also having her second child. Her nursery theme is Alice in Wonderland and so I made here invites to match her nursery also. They were really cute and she asked me to make one that she could frame and hang in the nursery. I also did some matching Eat Me & Drink Me labels for the Baby Shower that the girls put together for her.
