Blow out the Candles!

Hello! Have you seen the newest issue of Cardmaker? Their March issue is packed with all things Spring, plus some other fun techniques!
Featured on page 22, is one of my favorite intereactive designs I've created, a birthday blowout using "Candles on Your Cake"!
Just blow and pull to make them go out! hee hee! (wouldn't it be GREAT to just have 4 candles for all birthdays from now on??) ;)

A big hip hip hurray to our other Gina K Designs team members in the issue!

I have an EXTRA copy of the issue to give away to one of you, tell me a birthday wish you made (come on, I know you still make them before you blow out those candles!) that came TRUE! I will leave this open for a few days and pick a winner on Friday!

Have a great day!!
PS Thanks so much for your well wishes yesterday and I really appreciate everyone who is posting! I wanted to address Mary's observation that they didn't mention the name of the stamp set on the program: they let us know in advance they would not be able to say it during the episode because of PBS rules, but that's why they have it in the project pdf sheet! So that's the main reason why I really want to get the word out, some people may have seen the episode previously and not known what the set was or where to get it! Again, I really appreciate your help! Scroll down to read the post if you would like to help me let people know and you get a chance to win my upcoming set! ::)

  1. This is an easy one, Melanie. In April, it will be 10 years since DH and I got married- ON MY BIRTHDAY! When I blew the candles out, my wish was for a wonderful marriage and it came true!

  2. What a great card, Melanie! Love it. In 2006 I had surgery on my birthday. One of my sons was out of town at school and I really wanted to see him. And he showed up to surprise me and be there. Almost the best birthday I every had.

  3. Oh how I wish I could remember! I usually wish for things for others. I always, always stop and throw pennies into fountains and let me daughter do it too. I remember wishing (over a fountain)for a fix to her dreadful skin issues. Finally, we have made peace with her skin!

  4. I tend to wish for the same thing every year.... Another year that will be fabulous. So far most of them do come true. There have been a few that I think the wish didn't give it the best it could but for the most part each year is wonderful.

  9. Over the years I've made alot of wishes some silly some serious i distinctly remember wishing I could conceive on March 9 of 2008 after almost reaching that critical one year mark and the Dr starting to talk about referral to a fertility clinic. The next month we conceived and had our little boy on January 4, 2009. We have just hit that lottery again after trying for almost a year and are expecting our second child at the end of July this year. Biggest blessings of my entire life!!

Btw... I did notice that they left the package of the year of flowers stamp in the shot close up even so you could read the name designer and company if you paused it when I watched it on YouTube for the transparency video. Thought that was a pretty cool/sneaky way around it!! :)

  15. Really great card, Melanie! I haven't seen the March issue of Cardmaker yet. Love that magazine!
My birthday wish that came true was for my fortieth -- I wanted to be in Paris having dinner in the shadow of the Eiffel tower and that is exactly what we did! Fabulous birthday trip for me and DH who also had a significant bday that year!

  22. I really like your card...it is so adorable. And the interactiveness of it is fun. I can see a kid card forming in my mind! I feel bad, I really don't make wishes any more but if I did it would be for harmony within my family...for their health and happiness too.

  23. We've been asking today why it is so fun to blow candles out in the first place. http://www.chickenmonkeydog.com/killing-the-candle/

Is it a cultural thing or do people across the globe enjoy blowing out candles? And now your card has me asking if the joy also includes online candles.
