Out and About: Book Sighting!

So I'd been planning to make a little trip (15 minute drive) up to Archiver's sometime soon (click on that link to find a location near you), ever since I learned that all the Archiver's locations across the country (map above shows their 40+ locations) would be stocking my book! (Just had to see it there in person, you know?) These are terrific brick and mortar stores for things stampy and scrappy, check to see if there is one near you if you have not yet been! Well, anyway, it's not showing up in their online catalog, BUT the lovely and talented Christine Monzingo emailed last week and said she saw it at the Cedar Park location* and after telling them I live I Austin, they said they might be interested in having me do a book signing, squeal! I will keep you all updated on that and would love for you to swing by if you are in or around the Austin area (or beyond the Austin area if you are willing to travel for that, God bless!) so I can meet you if that happens. I'm praying it will!

SO I just had to go the next day, of course (hee hee, why wait any longer?) Yep, there it was, only two copies left! Honestly, I was more than a little tempted to take a picture of it sitting on the shelf (in Archiver's! ARCHIVER'S!!) but you know, I didn't... trying to play it cool... ; (this photo is from their website, I did not whip out my phone!)

Now, the cooler part of this story, after browsing around for a few more minutes, I took some adhesive** to the counter to purchase, and what do you know, two ladies were there at the register browsing through... MY book! One bought it (and both told the employee to order the stamp sets for the store! squeeeeal) so I signed it for her. She'd never been to my blog before, but I do hope she stops by in the future! Thank you, Jane, for your purchase, (waving!) it was SO nice to meet you and I hope to see you again! :)

* How blessed am I to live so close to one of only two stores in Texas?

** Vellum adhesive! Goes on clear so you don't see, it sounds like magic to me! Never seen it before, will be sure to let you know how i like it (I do have vellum designs in the book by the way!) :)

  1. I live just 5 minutes from the Minneapolis (MN) Archiver's and I can tell you - I'll be checking there this weekend for your book. I REALLY hope they get the stamps to go with it, too. Archiver's is a wonderful store with a "sensory overload" amount of crafting goodies on display!

  11. I've seen your book in the IL Archiver's! I already had my copy at home, but when I was in the store, I couldn't help looking through and oohing and ahhing. I have to remember to put my name in my book so that when I take it with me to a crop in a couple of weeks no one thinks I grabbed the store copy. Great job Melanie! I'll try to take a picture of their display of your book and send it to you.

  12. No Archivers near me at all...but I did order the book and two sets of the stamps from Gina K. Designs so I will soon have them in my hands as well. I am not sure there is an Archivers in South Dakota or not, but it would be cool to have my book signed by you as well. At any rate...I am anxious to see it and see your lovely work. Congratulations on the success of your book. I think that is awesome!

  14. Thanks, everybody, in sharing in my excitement and for all your purchases! oh and please, if it's NOT close by, do call first if it is going to be a really big inconvenience for you if it out of stock! I would so appreciate though if you mention that you like it, want the stamps there, or request setting up a signing! :) All interest is good!

As for your questions about your blog: i do like having a recipe, short and to the point is good, i look at the card first to see if it's 'my style' or something i'd make, and i look almost everyday, even tho i dont leave comments that often. Thanks for asking!

  22. Were you really in to look for that Vellum Adhesive? LOL.
Sounds like a scene from a sitcom. LOL.

I have to go find your book at my local Archivers. What a cute story and I am sure it made your day. Sure hope they ALL start to carry your stamp sets.
So, why don't you go on a real BOOK SIGNING tour???? is that next?
