hip hip...you know the rest! ;)
You can see each lady's pic, blog link and an entry for each that helped earn them a coveted spot on the team here! Check it out! All of these ladies are fabulously talented and creative, I consider myself really lucky to have stamps I designed on route to their stamps rooms for a work out the next couple months! Can't wait to see what they make! :D
I hope you any of you who submitted for the team will try again, the next call is only 2 months away! As Gina K pointed out in the same post this is the first time these designers have been chosen for the Gina K team, but it is not the first time for many of them to submit for it! I'm really glad they didn't give up, their dedication and work paid off! :)
I've mentioned before I've never been published. (This is really not surprising because I've never submitted! Can't happen if I don't try, right?!) But I did send in several cards to Stampin' UP! when I was a demo for their contests, not only did I NOT win, I never made the showcase!* I'm really glad I kept stamping and decided to send my work to Gina K, though, KWIM? :)** I encourage anyone out there who owns a stamp, (whether it's a Gina K image of not!), to send in some samples for the next call and see what happens! It's a wonderful challenge for yourself, a good experience to familiarize yourself with the process if you are interested in being on a team, and a terrific payoff if you get a YES! I am SO glad and privileged to be working with a company that gives these opportunities to showcase different people, talents, and styles on an ongoing basis like this. :)
So the card above! This was for the SCS color challenge two weeks ago, (I played twice) I also did the sketch challenge and kind of a "faux negative effect" with my Cuttlebug folder (emboss your paper, flip it over and rub the ink pad(here white craft, didn't want to clean craft ink out of my folder) directly to the paper, so you have a kind of "resist" of the embossed images. The white ink really softens the Basic Gray CS. The ribbon is SU! tafetta. I added the halfback pearl to the corner and a row of little "embossed dots" to the side of the bashful blue CS using the Cropodile to go with all the little embossed dots on the white layer. I used my aquapainter and WWCs to color the image and add a shadow to both the flower and the greeting.
Okay, to bed now, good night!! more later! cyber hugs!!
*but I'm told people saw my cards on the boards at convention...well, that's something!
Gorgeous card! I love that negative cb piece.....it's just so soft!! And definitely a huge CONGRATS to those talented ladies!! I can't wait to see all the wonderful and amazing creations and sneak peeks too!!! I can't believe you never made the showcase.....I think that must have been some odd kind of mix up!! Have a good night's sleep.....I've already given up and that and made my Gina K. swaps that are due anyway!! LOL
