The Stork Was Busy, So...

... the frog is filling in! Yes, it's about time I started letting all my Gina K stuff mix and mingle!! Look how perfectly the little sling fits in his hand! Now I realize this makes the baby* he's carrying incredibly tiny, or the frog terrifically huge, but I'm fine with that! Frogs don't have eyelashes either, but they do in my world!

I covered the baby blanket with Stardust Stickles (to match my glitter striped DP) rather than choosing a color, this way I can send it out for a boy or girl when the occasion arises. I used a Sakura glaze pen on his eyes. (I just realized I forgot to give the image a shadow, doh!(oh well, I will later, but not taking another pic!) I chose to put the stripes going horizontal since he's hopping along, and stamped my greeting on the two colored lines, look how nicely that fits!

Oh, did you want to know about the blog candy winner? I almost forgot! ;) Comment #64, Lee Murphy come on down! She writes: "Okay.......my second comment for my Google Reader-ing your blog.....Okay......I'm guessing there will be 4 new animals in the new set***!! I'll be at the release party!!!! :)" (Lee got to leave three comments BTW) Congrats, I hope you enjoy the candy! (I'll send you an email later today)

*I thought about coloring the little baby face green to match the frog, but a new mom might not really appreciate that...

** for the time being, I'm sticking with random.org. While I get what people are saying about how it "always picks in the middle", at the same time "the math person" in me says that it "always" picks in the middle because there are more numbers in the middle, while there's only one first and last number. So on some of these candy giveaways with let's say a 1000 plus comments, maybe 1 or 1000 has never been chosen, but probably also never 5 or 99 or 832 or whatever unless you've done 1000 giveaways to see...KWIM? I could be completely wrong here, though, it's been known to happen! Dad,(math major/genius/regular "Hands, Head and Heart" reader) can you help on this?? Either way, I STILL think you have a better chance with random.org than random.DH (who will guess the same number every time because he really couldn't care less about my blog candy results) or random.Jonathan who only counts up to 100 so far, and while he says numbers like "10,000 million!", I'm not quite sure he's completely aware of all the numbers in between, ya know? oh, and printing out and cutting up 200 strips of paper for a drawing? um, let me think about that...no. not for me. Sorry!

*** Lee's a winner, but she's wrong!

PS It always feels so quiet and lonely AFTER a blog candy winner is announced, so maybe you can leave a comment congratulating Lee, or about the card, or even vent about how you never seem to win anything before you go? pretty please?

  1. I think the card is very sweet. I love everything about it, and all of your designs, really.

And I think Lee is a very lucky blog candy winner. I never seem to win blog candy. I also never seem to win the drawing at Whole Foods that I enter at least twice a week for bringing my own grocery bag. Oh well, I still shop there, and I'll still read your blog.

    Have a great day!

Melanie, I think you did good not to color the baby green...whoever heard of a green baby..unless it had a dragon for a mom...(you are right, a new mom wouldn't like to be compared to a dragon!!! LOL)
    Love the sparkly card..

  16. Congratulations Lee!

    Melanie-
Whoever came up with storks in the first place. Can you imagine a stork carrying an elephant baby (dumbo).
So frog carrying a baby is ok.

Doesn't the first guesser of the right number get any candy? (Wink, Wink)

  17. Oh, a baby frog in the sling would have been really cute too!

    Congrats to Lee!

  18. Heehee, I told myself right away you should color the baby green and then I saw your little note at the bottom about that!... LOL I would have colored it green, cause it's less disturbing than thinking the baby is the size of a tadpole (which arent' green though...) and the frog is like a giant... :-)

BTW I forgot what the address is, where I should send my subliminal tape that your hubby is supposed to have you listen while you sleep, it says "draw a panda, draw a koala, draw a panda, draw a koala...." it's very relaxing!... No, really, it is!... :-)

  23. Woohoo! Way to go, Lee! Lee is one of my good buds from SCS, and she is very deserving of this prize. So happy for you, Lee!!

I think this froggie special delivery is really cute. Maybe he is bringing a new tadpole to the mama? Then green would have been okay. *wink* :) Kel

  32. Melanie, when I saw this card I about FELL OUTTA MY CHAIR! Why? Because my DREAM stamp set would include a FLAMINGO delivering a baby instead of a stork! I have been trying to get pregnant for a long time and with some medical intervention we hope we are on the road to success in the next year. My dream flamingo would also have looong flirty eyelashes like your frogs:) I just love it that you think like I do....it doesn't HAVE to be a stork that brings the baby:) LOVE this card! Thanks again for sharing your talent!

  33. What a cute frog baby!! I don't think the baby is small in respect to frog mom, not at all!
As to random.org, last candy I had it pick I had numbers from 1 - 63 and it picked 63!! so first and last number definitely are in the game :)

  34. Congrats to Lucky Lee! Nobody makes cuter froggy cards than you do:) You are getting a lot of comments on this post which must mean that the majority of us haven't gone away pouting because we didn't win. LOL

  36. Hi Melanie,

Where did you purchase your Sakura Gel Pen? I'm guessing it's just a clear gel pen that gives the image a bit of clear 3D effect??

Sorry; I'm sure this is an extra dumb question - just help the blonde chick out if you have a moment. LOL
